Good Morning Memorial Families,
Happy New Year! I hope that you and your family enjoyed the winter break. I am happy to be back into the swing of things and to have some sense of routine back. I love the holidays, but I also love the peace and quiet that comes after the celebrations are over. This is my favorite time of year in elementary school. The excitement of November and December holidays are behind us and student learning really accelerates. This is the time of year that we begin to see our kindergarten students begin to string sounds together into words, and our early readers really start to hit their stride. Hopefully the weather continues to be in our favor and we can string together some complete weeks of learning without any snow or ice impacts.
This Friday we will hold our January All School Meeting. We will continue our deeper dive into the Mendon-Upton Portrait of a Learner, looking more carefully at the Mindful Learner competency. At the elementary level, we turned each of the competencies into a superhero, and so you can see and read about the Mindful Learner Hero below. All of this learning is leading us to our first district Inspired Learning Day, happening February 6th. On this day, students in grades 1-4 will engage in learning that is focused on one of the Portrait of a Learner competencies that they have chosen to explore. Our preschool and kindergarten students will spend the day learning more about the superheroes themselves and will engage in learning that requires them to use their superpowers. More information will be coming as we get closer to the date.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy and Lauren

School Hours
Our school hours are 8:45am-3:15pm. Drop off begins at 8:45 and students who arrive after 9:00am are considered tardy. We will begin dismissal right around 3:15pm.
Due to the hectic nature of the late afternoon, we will no longer be allowing parent dismissals from the main office after 2:45pm. If your child has an appointment, please plan to dismiss him/her earlier, or make use of our pick up line at 3:15pm. Thank you for understanding.
