Diversity Lecture | Bakari Selleres
Audience: Students, staff, faculty

Bakari Sellers is an Activist, Lawyer, and CNN Political Commentator. In 2006, Mr. Sellers made history when, at just 22 years old, he defeated a 26-year incumbent State Representative to become the youngest member of the South Carolina state legislature and the youngest African American elected official in the nation.
He has since moved on from elected office, but he continues his work as an accomplished lawyer who is recognized at the national level as an activist fighting for a more inclusive society. Sellers practices law with the Strom Law Firm, LLC in Columbia, SC and continues to serve as a Political Commentator at CNN.
Mr. Sellers will be speaking to our community about how we can all play a part in creating a more inclusive campus.

Participants will leave this workshop knowing how to create a budget and build a small emergency fund. You will also learn some basics of investing and how a small investment can grow over time.

While our fall Emerge and Engage Leadership Circles are coming to a close in a few short weeks, we are looking ahead to the spring programs!
If you are a student and interested in the Emerge Program, click here to learn more. Nominations for the Emerge Program will open on November 13, and applications will open November 26. Students do not need to be nominated to participate.

Student Leader Summit
Audience: Students
February 22-24, 2019Cape Cod
The Student Leader Summit is a weekend experience where student leaders can learn more about their personal leadership development as it relates to the Student Leadership Challenge. Students will participate in various activities that help them relate their experiences to the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership.
The Student Leader Summit is open to all members of student organizations, leadership programs, student employees of the OSILD, and those by special invitation.

Assistant Professor of English Hardeep Sidhu, who was recently appointed Director of the Ethnic Studies program, discusses the importance of creating an inclusive campus environment both inside and outside the classroom.

Kate Surprenant is a passionate leader. She is a feminist and believes you have to put your heart into the work that you do. Kate is doing just that in her many roles here on campus, including her position as Women's Basketball Captain. Kate took the time to share her beautiful perspective on leadership with us
Student Leader | Omolara Ojo
Nigerian American Omolara Ojo is an extremely involved student leader at WSU. She understands the importance of incoming students seeing people that look like them in leadership roles on campus. Therefore, Omolara has dedicated her time at Worcester State to making sure this happens. She recently took some time to share her story with us. We are excited to share it with you.
