Don't take a 'Winter Break' from learning!

Winter Break Reading Ideas!

Winter break is a wonderful time to relax and enjoy time with family and friends! However, soon enough the holidays will be over and we will all be back to teaching and learning! In order to have a successful second part to the school year, here are some tips so learning doesn't go on a winter break!

1. Read, read, read!! Books as gifts: Encourage family and friends to give the gift of reading for gifts this year! Whether it's a holiday book, or their favorite reading series! Books make great gifts and keepsakes.

2. Cook up an easy lesson. Lots to learn while reading a recipe! Learning AND memories with family in the kitchen.

3.Write thank-you notes. Grab a cup of hot cocoa and write cards with your child to loved ones thanking them for their thoughtful gifts.

4.Make the most of car rides. Use travel as a learning time!

5.Maintain reasonable bedtimes. While it's tempting to let them stay up late, remember it's all good in little amounts! Too many late nights make the routine harder to get back into.

6.Ask for grocery assistance. Have your child help choose what to buy, decide how much you need, check your supplies to see what you've already got, write or draw pictures on the list, and sort coupons.

7.Let kids help with online shopping. Log onto your favorite shopping sites and let your child help you select presents.

8.Have a family game night. Many of your family's favorite board and card games reinforce skills such as counting, reading, and drawing.

9.Visit the library. A great time to stock up on some favorites for the upcoming cold months.

10.Check out our FREE subscription to TUMBLEBOOKS! It's a great site!!
