Library Love
How our students are using the library!
September Update
Welcome to the MMS library! Students and staff we're excited to start the school year off with so many new books! Please see below to witness the many ways MMS students have enjoyed the library this month!
41 Language Arts Classes that Came in for Orientation
A brief refresher was enough for 7th and 8th graders, but 6th graders spent about 20 minutes learning about library life, and had or will have a second lesson about using Destiny, Destiny Quest, and Follet Shelf for e-books. All grades used copies of the new floor plan to become familiar with where to find different types of materials.
Teachers Send 153 Students With a Pass To Get Materials
Throughout the day, teachers send students down to get reading material for reader's workshop, to read during independent study, or for our special education population, to change the scenery and take a book break.
153 Students Spend Recess in the Library!
The library is a place where students can sign up to come in during recess to get a head start on homework, work on long-range projects, or crash in a beanbag and get lost in a book or magazine. During U period, there may also be a library lesson occurring simultaneously, but students know what to do when they arrive, and are self-sufficient if I am teaching.
P.E. Students Are Here Too!
A Place to Recover for 72 Students!
Students who are injured or not feeling well, get sent to the library by Nurse Nancy to recover until they are cleared to participate again. While here, students are responsible for reading and writing two gym reports per week, but when they are finished, they often read or work on other school work.
