STEM Fun and Coming Up in February
Read for Ronald
February is Reading Month! Students are asked to read or listen to stories every day throughout the month and collect donations to help the Ronald McDonald House. Students will be doing different reading activities in school such as Reading Day, Teacher Mystery Readers, Student Mystery Readers, and DEAR (Drop Everything And Read). Students are encouraged to read or listen to stories at home as well and complete the Read for Ronald calendar. Calendars and donations are due back at the end of the month. Happy Reading!
Three Little Pigs STEM
Kindergarten students started working through the STEM Process to design houses for the Three Little Pigs. Students use cooperation in small groups to design, build, and test their house. The Big Bad Wolves (Mrs. Carney, Miss Hill, and Mrs. Morrash) will use a blowdryer to try to blow down the houses. Coming up soon, students will discuss what worked and did not work well in their design, and use cooperation to redesign, build, and test a second house! Please continue to collect recycled materials and send them to school for students to use for the second and third houses. Thanks!
100th Day of School!
On the 100th Day of School, Kindergarten participated in collaborative centers in the gym. Students made 100th Day Headbands with ten groups of ten different pictures, got out 100 wiggles with ten different exercises, and built a 100 piece Lego structure. They also counted coins to 100 cents and dollar bills to $100. Students worked together to read 100th Day of School books and decorate a Kindergarten banner. Take a look at our 100th Day of School Video below!
