Staying Connected

October 4, 2020

Appreciation to All!

With the third week of school behind us, we are really getting into a rhythm. We have refined our bus dismissal process and have done remarkably well in dismissing students to parents. On average, we have fifty students picked up on a daily basis and are able to accomplish this in fifteen minutes. Getting students into the building has also been more expedient. Thank you to all!

I also want to thank families for notifying us when your child is sick and taking the appropriate measures to help us all stay healthy. I know this may be a challenge but it so important. Together we will weather any storm!

Half Day of School on Wednesday, October 7th

The school hours on a half day of school are 9:00-12:00.

Half day parent pick up time is 11:45-12:00 pm. Buses dismiss at 12:00 pm.

AM preschool pick up time is 11:30.

PM preschool pick up time is 2:45.

This week there will be no PM Preschool.

Regular parent drop off time in the morning for kindergarten through second grade is 8:45-9:00 am.

Regular parent pick up time in the afternoon for kindergarten through second grade is 3:00-3:15 pm.

School Cafe IDs

To set up an account in School Cafe, an ID is needed. These will be given to the classroom teachers who will then send them home for families. This was not able to be accomplished last week. We will get this information to families this week.

Dress in Layers

This is the time of year where it's hard to decide how to dress. Dressing in layers helps! The windows on the buses will always be opened at the top and we want to use our outside spaces as much as possible for mask breaks and learning. Some of our days have been cooler and breezy while outside and we want everyone to be comfortable.

Woodland's New Adjustment Counselor

Introducing Rebecca Levit (on the left in picture), our new kindergarten and first grade School Adjustment Counselor. She will be collaborating with Mrs. Rigby, Woodland’s other Adjustment Counselor(on the right in picture), to meet the social and emotional needs of our students. As counselors, they work with students individually to navigate challenging moments and promote a positive school experience. They also run counseling groups that focus on social skill development. This year they are excited to be providing weekly social-emotional lessons in all of our classrooms. Topics will include feeling identification, self-regulation and coping skills, empathy, friendship skills, and problem solving. These lessons are designed to work in conjunction with our CARES program to help foster a positive school community and instill important life-long skills.
