RAPID COVID TESTING NOW AVAILABLE FROM NURSE YOLY!

Nurse Yoly has a new COVID testing device that has been provided by the district. The results only take 20 minutes. If a student is ill, they will still need to go home, but once the child is tested and it comes back negative, the child can return to school when they are asymptomatic for 24 hours with no medication. This is per the updated Symptom-Free Schools protocol.

Cooper Landing School

Written & Illustrated

Each year, students at Cooper Landing School write and illustrate their own books. Typically, the students present their books to the community at an "Authors' Tea" held at the school; however, this year it will be recorded and the link shared out on Tuesday, May 18th. Families will then be able to watch with whoever they wish. You don't want to miss this!

Graduation

Please mark your calendars! Graduation is scheduled for next Monday, May 17th at 6:00 pm. Kindergarten and 12th grade will be combined into one ceremony. Please click here for more information and for a link to view a live stream of the ceremony. https://sites.google.com/view/cooperlandinggraduation.

Please note we have a BBQ being planned for the last day of school. We hope to have good weather and have parents come to the school grounds and enjoy some time together before we part ways for summer. More info will be coming in the next few days.

Last week, JoJo won our school's Nenana Ice Challenge! She guessed within 36 minutes of the actual ice break-up on the Nenana River! She won a few small prizes and had the very largest grin!

PTO has requested help paying for Alyeska Ski Lessons this year. You can make checks payable to Hope School PTO and bring into school.

There is an online survey KPBSD has requested all 3rd-12th students fill out. If you can get the permission slip back to me ASAP, we can allocate a time for the students to take the survey in class. The email sent this morning contains a printable PDF with the permission slip.

Have a great week!

A friendly reminder that all students out sick, regardless of whether they have been sent home from school, or you have opted to keep them home must follow district protocol for COVID19 quarantining. This means they must quarantine for 10 days AND not return until they have been symptom free for 24 hours OR they may get tested and return to school after a negative test result AND remaining symptom free for 24 hours. Students must be medication free to be considered symptom free.

More information is available on the district website: https://www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us/students_parents.aspx?id=41540 and from our school nurse: yifflander@kpbsd.k12.ak.us
