CKH Message / Jeff Thorpe
5 weeks. 5 weeks until the next long break. 5 weeks until you get to wrap yourself up in family, friends, and mornings void of the irritating sounds of an alarm clock. 5 weeks.
There are days that it seems that these 5 weeks come to steal our joy. In these weeks, you may question if you can keep up, if it is worth it, and if Starbucks might be hiring…😉
We can’t forget that there are so many great days that bring happiness and satisfaction! Don’t let these weeks steal your joy! To help, below are 5 things that will help you keep your joy during these 5 weeks:
§ Avoid hanging out with complainers. Find peers that will encourage and re-energize you!
§ Get some rest. If you are exhausted, you may have trouble enjoying the work we GET to do. Make rest and sleep a priority!
§ De-Stress. Exercise, get a massage, make a to-do list…or a “don’t do” list...whatever works for YOU!
§ Cease to complain. Your words move others. Your words move YOU. Make yours a light to guide everyone in the right direction!
§ Make the days count. Remember that while we often wait for Thanksgiving break with great anticipation, we have students, and even fellow staff members, who are clinging to these 5 weeks because YOU are the best part of their day. They are the ones who count down the days during the break to get back to the stability and smiles and life-changing joy you provide.
You only have 5 weeks. Make them count! Whether they need a lamp, a lifeboat, or a ladder (or all three!), use this time to lead them and love them well!
