Memory
Solid, Magnetic and Optical. by Sophie Gordon
Memory.
solid- Is the memory chip that stores your files.
Magnetic- the storage of data on a magnetized medium.
optical-is the storage of data on an optically readable medium.
EXAMPLES!!!
Solid- flash memory
magnetic- floppy disks
optical-DVDs
HOW THEY WORK!!!!
SOLID.
there is no moving parts. it has a transistor that stays on even when the power is off , it has three main wires that control it they are called source ,drain and gate.
MAGNETIC.
The wires are arranged to allow an individual core to be set to 1 or 0 and for its magnetization to be changed by sending electric current pulses through wires.
OPTICAL.
information is recorded by making marks in a pattern that can be decoded back for example a DVD.
