ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Friends and Families,
As we enter Winter Break and folks head off for various winter celebrations, we have had a series of wonderful celebrations here at CCS this week!
- Our first celebration is a fond farewell and huge “thank you” to Bill Schmidt, our evening custodian crew leader. Bill has worked with CCS for 32 years.
- Our 7th and 8th grade Chorus and Band performances on Monday were amazing! Our Concert Choir also traveled to the University Mall to perform on Wednesday afternoon.
- On Thursday, we had a school-wide PBIS Celebration - this was a un competition as students took on faculty in our annual basketball game. Our students earned this celebration for weeks of hard work and great behavior.
- This morning, we loaded up many boxes for the Charlotte Food Shelf Donations - including food and toys.
- Students and families in Grades 3 and 4 enjoyed a showcase of learning in their classrooms on Thursday morning.
Inspired by the video Random Acts of Kindness, a group of students in Betsy Lloyd’s wellness class wrote “love letters” to two different people who are going through difficult situations. They are people that they don't know, except for their name and a small description of what they are dealing with. From there, the kids write letters of kindness, encouragement and love. What a great way to end the day. Growing our compassion and empathy, and increasing our own happiness by spreading joy to others. This inspiration is what we all could use during this dark and busy time of the year.
Brrr!!! Winter temperatures have arrived. When we see you in January, please make sure that students have appropriate winter gear to ensure that they are able to enjoy the snow and fresh air. For students in Grades K-4, this means boots, coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. For students in Grades 5-8, we recognize that the full gear is often not preferred, but we encourage students to come with coats, hats, gloves and boots or a change of shoes/socks. It can be a long afternoon if clothing and shoes are cold and wet.
Wishing you all a wonderful vacation!
Kind Regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra

LOST AND FOUND
The Lost and (not yet) Found is once again overflowing. Please have your child(ren) check the tables in the MPR lobby by the trophy case for any missing items. These items will be donated on December 20th (Friday before the Early Winter Break). We hate to give away family's missing items, so please come by!
AFTER SCHOOL PLANS FOR STUDENTS
We have many "blanket notes" for dismissal for students with recurring commitments for after school activities. Keeping track of the magnitude of these notes can be cumbersome and impact our dismissal process, particularly with seasonal changes. With this in mind, if your . child has a recurring commitment on any day(s) of the week, we kindly ask that you help us update our system with a fresh note for January -June. Additionally, if your child has a blanket note and their plans change, please be sure to inform the front office.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends.
2020/2021 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION AT CCS
If your child(ren) will be 5 years old by September 1, 2020 they are eligible to attend kindergarten at Charlotte Central School for the 2020/2021 school year.
Registration will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020, by appointment only.
THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCALLY!
Hunger can seem far away, but we have children right here in our schools whose families struggle to keep them fed. Federal guidelines for the free lunch are less generous than we think. A single mom who makes $32,000 will find that her child is not eligible! These families can fall behind in making payments to the foodservice program, but tight budgets require us to continue to send them bills. Can you help make the holidays a little brighter for food-insecure families in our community? Make a donation by sending a check in to your school with "help feed hungry kids" on the memo line. An option to make donations right in MySchoolBucks is coming soon!
CVSD BUDGET MEETINGS
CVSD budget meetings will be held starting in November and continuing into January. Members of the CVSD communities are welcome to attend any and all meetings.
