On Thursday, November 14th (4th grade) and Friday, November 15th (5th grade), 4th and 5th graders will participate in our Day of Compassion at Lincoln. This day will take place in our large gym from 8:30 – 2:30. The students along with their teachers will be involved with many different activities throughout the day pertaining to respect and compassion for each other. The day will be led by Rollie Johnson. They will also be assisted by student leaders from Fargo South. Without the continued support of our PTA this event would not happen for our 4th and 5th grade students. We are so appreciative of everything our PTA does for our students.
We will once again be participating in the Fill the Dome campaign. Our role in this community wide project is to collect nonperishable food items. All items will be delivered to the Fargo Dome. The goal of the Fill the Dome campaign is to support the Great Plains Food Bank. It will be exciting to see how our Lincoln families will support this very worthwhile cause. More information on collection dates will be sent home in November.
Holiday Assistance: Christmas Food Box Registration: November 25th, 26th & 27th from 9:00-3:00pm each day at the Salvation Army in the Chapel. Address is: 304 Roberts Street North. For further information call 701.232.5565.
**Photo ID, social security card and verification of income required for these registrations**.
Counselor lessons in November will focus on:
*Being Assertive (using a firm calm voice and respectful words to tell someone what you want or need)
*Empathy-trying to understand what someone else is feeling (using clues like: look at their face/body, listen to their voice and thinking about the situation)
*Please take the time to talk with your children about these two skills and provide opportunities to practice. This will help them develop the skills and reinforce their learning.

FPS CARD CONTEST
This contest is a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain district-wide recognition.
During the months of December and January we will be creating the artwork for this contest.
One student work from each school will be submitted to Superintendent Gandhi and the School Board. They will view all the entries and select one grand prize winner and two honorable mentions.
All entries will be due Friday, January 31, 2020.
The work submitted to the School Board will be used to create a selection of blank cards that can be used for any occasion. They will be made available for purchase on the District Website.
It will be up to a board of educators to select one piece from your school to submit.
One Grand Prize
Winner and family will be invited to an unveiling at a School Board meeting in the spring. A large poster of the winning piece will be showcased at the District Office.

Please help us keep students safe!
If you pick up your child from school at the end of the day, we need all vehicles to park parallel to the school so children can safely walk from the sidewalk to the waiting vehicles. Please drive NORTH on 9th street when picking up students.
It is essential that we keep a single file line of cars moving NORTH. When vehicles are double –parked or are moving south, it means students must run in between vehicles. This is extremely dangerous. Even though there is a lot of traffic, the cars clear out quickly. Please wait patiently for a spot to pull up and pick up your child safely. THANKS!
Traffic Safety:
- Single file traffic moving north.
- Do not leave vehicle unattended.
- Be patient– traffic clears out quickly.
- Never double park or have children run between cars.
Tardies/Absences/Appointments
Tardies: Our first bell rings at 8:10. This is the time when students are allowed to go to their lockers and inside their classrooms. Students must be in their classrooms by 8:20. The time from 8:10 to 8:20 is important for organizing and preparing for the day. It is important for all of our students to be on time…meaning in the classroom and ready to learn at 8:20.
Absences: If your child will not be in school, please call our office staff at 446-4900. If we do not hear from you, our office will be calling to check the whereabouts of your child…your child’s safety is always our number one concern. Being on time and having good attendance is crucial for learning. When a child is habitually absent/tardy, there is a negative impact on learning. If you are ever having trouble with getting your child to school on time or your child feeling sick too often, please call the office. Our school counselor, Amy Blesie, would be happy to work with you and offer support and suggestions.
Appointments: If you need to pick up your child during the day, please come to the office to sign he/she out. The office will call your child out of his/her classroom. Due to district policy, we are unable to call your child out of the classroom before you have arrived at the school.
