A message from the Principal
To our Suffield Families:
Each of us realizes that being here to educate our young learners does not come without risk. It's a risk that closed us down for the last 2 weeks as some of our staff contracted COVID-19 and others had to be quarantined because of it. As we come back after these past 2 weeks, we are all healthy and well. We would appreciate your help in keeping everyone at Suffield healthy. That begins with our entire Suffield family practicing the 3 "W"s. We WASH our hands, WATCH our distance, and WEAR our masks. Your assistance in reminding our students of this is critical. Clean masks, a new one each day, and an extra in the book bag will help with this.
As a reminder, please keep your child home if he/she feels ill. Please reference the COVID-19 symptoms and keep your child home if he/she exhibits any of these. Do not give your child medication in the morning before sending them to school in hoping that they will "feel better". As soon as the medication wears off, you'll be getting a phone call to pick your child up and run the risk of causing others to need to quarantine or become ill as well. It will take all of us working together to keep all of us healthy!
We appreciate all that you have done during these challenging times. We know that it has not been easy and we want you to know that we appreciate you! If there is anything that you need from us, please do not hesitate to ask! I'm only a call or email away!
I can't wait to see everyone on Monday!

Synergize. Synergize, means when two or more people work together to create a better solution that neither would have thought of alone. It’s not your way or my way, but a better way. Synergy is taking good ideas and making them better by working together. Here is a short video for parents to watch on Synergy. https://www.leaderinme.com/resources/what-is-synergy-1

October 24 - National Make a Difference Day
One small gesture can completely change someone else's day! Remember, we never know what someone else may be going through and how something very simple can make a big impact. Take the time to do something for someone else! Suggestions: pay for someone's lunch, hold open a door, pick up the trash in the neighborhood, compliment someone, or send a text to someone you haven't talked to in a while just to let them know you care!

Conference Sign-Ups-Please consider Zoom
It’s that time of year when we begin to make plans for the upcoming conferences. Because it’s been so long since our students have been in school, this will be one of the most important conferences you can attend. This year, conferences are being held on Monday, November 2 from 8:00-11:00 am, Thursday, November 12 from 4:30-8:00 pm and on Tuesday, November 17 from 4:30-8:00 pm. We will be available to meet with parents in-person or via Zoom. When choosing a conference time, please type ZOOM next to your child’s name if you would desire this option. The teacher will then share the link with you before your conference. If you wish to attend in person, just write your child’s name and we will expect you at school. The link for you to sign up for conferences has been emailed. If you did not receive it, please contact the school.
Picture Retake Day - Nov. 5th
Fall pictures are being sent home with your child on Monday, October 26th. If you are a remote learner and you didn't receive your child's pictures on the October 19th, please feel free to stop in the office and pick them up! If your child was absent on picture day, or you are not satisfied with the pictures taken that day, Lifetouch will be back on Thursday, November 5th. Please have your child bring in the picture package you are not happy with ON RETAKE DAY. We will then have your child give it to the Lifetouch photographer, so they know to retake your child’s picture.

Children's Advantage at Suffield
Counselor's corner
Hello Field Families!
At school we have been talking about empathy during our character development lessons this past month! The students have been doing an amazing job understanding that empathy is imaging how someone else feels or putting themselves in someone else's shoes. We have talked about how to notice how someone might be feeling and how you can show empathy to others. Having the student learn and be able to discuss empathy builds a stronger community for our schools! There are many ways to continue the conversation and extend the concept of empathy at home: modeling empathy to your child; discussing feelings, emotions and why we feel certain emotions; using pretend play and reading stories!
Thanks for reading! Go Falcons!

Message From the School Clinic
Please make sure that your child has a few masks at home so that he/she is not wearing the same mask every day. If you do not have any extras and would like another for your child, we have some in the office. A parent made them and donated a variety of awesome masks. We'd love to help you out!
A clean mask will help keep everyone healthy!

Crayola Colorcycle Program
Crayola and schools across North America have banded together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. Suffield Elementary will now take part in recycling markers that no longer work. It’s a super easy project to help our environment! You can send in any brand of markers, sharpies, dry erase, and highlighters. Once we collect the markers, they will be shipped to a facility that repurposes them so that they are kept out of the landfills.
