Attendance this week...

Our goal is 98% attendance and our attendance was 96% this week.

Remember: Students must be in attendance at least 90% of the days the class is taught in order to receive credit or a final grade in a class. We appreciate our parents' efforts in helping us minimize student absences and prepare our students for their futures!

Interim Principal Update: A Note From Mr. Tucker

Dear Parents,

Well, we have started the testing season. We had a number of tests this week, and as you know, there are more to come. And this too, shall pass.

This week my thoughts have been focused on the huge difference that parents make in the lives of their children. Here are a few thoughts along that line and how we can continue to make that difference.

1. The time you spend with your children is priceless for them and precious to you. They grow up all too fast. You will look around one day and see that they have gone.Take advantage of this time to teach the values you want for them to depend on as life presents its challenges.

2. Emphasize education. Whether you can see it or not, what you consider important they will consider important. Of course, it is critical that actions reflect words.

3. It is important to set routines. Study after study has addressed this. Kids do better when they have specific times for such things as chores, school work, meals, bedtime, etc.

4. It is important to set high expectations and provide the support needed if they don't quite reach the goal or simply fail. The important lesson is to keep trying, perseverance makes a huge difference in this life.

5. Help them build self confidence by taking on difficult tasks and working through what it takes to accomplish the task.

6. Help them understand that getting along is important in this world. Most work environments today require team effort.

7. Show them how goal setting and problem solving go hand-in-hand.

8. And finally, help them understand how important self awareness is. Understanding their own motivation and values will help them as they navigate a too often daunting world.

Best wishes,

ct

6 Shel Silverstein Quotes You Can Relate More To As An Adult

Article by : Lucas Buckels

Being a kid is a lot harder than we give them credit for. Sure, there are less bills, more naps and better snacks, but there’s also a constant load of information, life lessons and insight being thrown their way at every angle. Teachers, parents, preachers, books, movies and music are all trying to explain their new adventure in this thing called life to them, and their place in it.

But sometimes, those lessons don’t hit you until you grow older and revisit them. There’s a layer of depth that washes over our youthful minds and we completely miss it. In particular, Shel Silverstein’s Where The Sidewalk Ends can still hit you right in the feels and force you to say “HOW DID I EVER MISS THAT?!” or “THAT’S WAAAAY TOO HEAVY FOR A KID TO UNDERSTAND!”.

Whichever side of the coin you are on, take a look at just how moving, prophetic and gut-wrenching Shel’s wisdom was when you were told all of this as a kid.
