South Brunswick Parent Academy

The South Brunswick Municipal Alliance and the South Brunswick School District have partnered to offer a series of workshops under the umbrella of the South Brunswick Parent Academy (SBPA). The Academy was founded on the concept of “Solving the Puzzle of Parenting … One Piece at a Time.” In its fourteenth year, the SBPA continues to offer parenting workshops, as well as District workshops on curriculum, instruction and safe and caring schools. This year’s Academy provides a wealth of information on timely and relevant issues facing families today.

Homework Free Nights

Once again, South Brunswick is purposefully and intentionally designating “homework free” nights throughout the year. The purpose of homework free nights is to give students time off from preparing homework and projects and studying for tests, as well as offering students an opportunity to explore topics that they are passionate about, spend time with family, enjoy outside activities, and attend South Brunswick events. There is tremendous value in engaging in meaningful homework assignments that reinforce concepts and skills taught during the school day. At the same time, there are times when we need to collectively have a break from the responsibilities of homework and enjoy time with family and friends.

“Homework Free" dates to span the 2019-2020 school year:

  • Fall: November 27- December 1, 2019 (Thanksgiving Holiday) - No assignments or long-range projects due or tests given before December 4.
  • Winter: December 20, 2019 – January 2, 2020 (Winter Break) - No assignments or long-range projects due or tests given before January 6.
  • Winter: February 14, 2020 – February 17, 2020 (Presidents Weekend) - No assignments or long-range projects due or tests given before February 20.
  • Spring: April 10, 2020 – April 19, 2020 (Spring Break) - No assignments or long-term projects due or tests given on the day of return, April 22.
