All Things Rushing!
Principal's Message!
Hello All,
I wanted to take a quick moment to reiterate something that I sent out earlier this year. I truly believe that all things are better when we approach them with the tenets of grace, gratitude, and kindness. I try to emulate all three of those in my interaction with everyone, students, staff, families. While I am not always as successful as I want to be, I hope that I never stop trying. This week, we reported our first case of a positive COVID result. We have been so fortunate at Rushing as we have not had many cases and our students and staff have been amazing following protocol. Having said that, I want to give a huge thank you and shout out to our front office staff, Ms. Barbour, Ms. Lynch, Ms. Nichols, Ms. Brinkerhoff, Ms. Bilich, and especially our very own Nurse King! Nurse King, in particular, is spending endless hours making sure all of us are safe. She is following protocols that are not hers to change and loves and cares for us all beyond compare! Please reach out to me with any complaints or concerns.
These ladies work so very hard to make sure that everyone is taken care of, from answering phones, to campus visitors, to students, to teachers, to delivery drivers, the list goes on and on. I just want to remind everyone that they are following district protocol for the safety and care of our students and our campus at all times. I am also asking that you show them the grace, gratitude and kindness that they show all of us!
Our new normal is very challenging for everyone, teachers, students, families, I completely understand that so very much! Having said that, we are all in this together to create the best possible scenario for our learning environment and school family.
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns! Thank you for your continued support and, as I have said, with GRACE, GRATITUDE, and KINDNESS, we can resolve any issue and move forward for the success of our students at Rushing Middle School, GO RAPTORS!
Sincerely,
Danielle Wallace

BIO
Collin Kartchner created a popular parody Instagram account simply to poke fun of social media and used that account to raise awareness of the harmful effects social media can have on our self-esteem and self-worth. Instead of using his large following to earn paid sponsorship dollars, he used his platform to raise $100k's for hurricane victims, cancer kids, and now has become a social activist raising awareness of social media's effect on teen mental health. He travels the country speaking to kids, parents, educators, and more on the connection between social media and screen addiction on the epidemic rise in teen anxiety, depression, and suicidality. This past year, Collin has presented to 600,000+ individuals at over 500 speaking engagements. His movement to #SavetheKids has gained national attention, earning him a spot on Utah Valley's Top 40 Under 40, an audience at the NIKE and Adidas Headquarters, and a spot on the TEDx stage in September 2018. Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes said that “Collin is a WARRIOR for our kids.” He and his high school crush Elizabeth live in Pleasant Grove, UT, with their 4 amazing un-plugged kids.
