Communication & Collaboration Tools
For 12th Grade Students and Parents
The following tools will be used throughout the year in and outside of the classroom in order to promote positive communication and collaboration among students. These tools can also be used by parents to make sure students are completing assignments and turning them in on time.
Helpful resources
Dropbox
This is an application that can be downloaded for free. We will use it to post weekly assignments and readings. After you have downloaded your assignment from Dropbox you will upload it back into the folder. Parents and students will be notified when assignments have been turned in.
Google Docs
Google docs will be used for group work in and outside of the classroom. Students will be collaborating on several projects this year and by using Google Docs presentations, they can easily work together. This will ensure each student is participating in group work.
Wiki Spaces
We will also have a class Wiki where a different student will take notes each week and then post them. This will ensure that everyone gets the class notes and takes a turn in taking them.
Benefits of Using These Tools
Since these three tools are all online they will be immensely useful to students and parents. Access to all sites and apps is easy even for the less technologically savvy. This will be the best way to keep up with notes and assignments and will also eliminate the use of paper.
