Interphase

This is the longest stage. Most cells don't go past this stage. This is when cells grow and mature.

Prophase

This s the first stage of mitosis. The nucleolus disappears and chromatins condenses into chromosomes. DNA is replicated in this stage, and formation of the mitotic spindle.

Metaphase

In this stage chromosomes align in the metaphase plate.

Anaphase

This is the third stage of mitosis. In this step chromatids separate the chromosomes toward opposite poles of the cell. This makes two sets of chromosomes of the daughter cells.

Telophase

This is the fourth and final stage of mitosis. The nuclear envelopes reappear. Cytokinesis reaches completion; creating two daughter cells.
