1: Freshman Film Series
Screenagers - The Next Chapter
LHS will be hosting its first film in our three part series focusing on anxiety, depression, and external influences on our teens starting Wednesday, Oct. 19th, during Freshmen flex in the Black Box Theatre. This mandatory event will include watching a section of a film and discussion after with LHS social workers. If you have questions or concerns please reach out to the Counseling and Social Work Department. If you wish to have your student OPT OUT of this activity please call the guidance office at 816-736-7046 or email your student's counselor/social worker.
2: Parent Nights
Junior Parent Night
Junior Parents - On October 26th @ 6:00pm you are invited to join us virtually for our Junior Parent Night! We will cover essential things your student should be focusing on now to get them prepared for the Senior year and life after high school. Topics include: Exploring Options, College Admissions, Military and Workforce tips. It will be packed full of useful information. We hope to see you there! Click HERE for the Zoom Link.
Selective College Admissions Presentation
Are you interested in applying to a selective college? Join us virtually on Tuesday, November 8 at 6PM to learn tips on applying to colleges that accept less than 50% of the students who apply. Click HERE for the Zoom link.

HBCU College Fair and Showcase
The Park Hill School District will be hosting an HBCU College Fair and Showcase on Thursday, November 10, 2022! This College Fair and Showcase will be held at Park Hill High School located at 7701 NW Barry Road, KCMO 64153 from 6-8 PM. College & Career Fair
Excelsior Springs School District will be hosting a college and career fair on October 26th from 5:30pm to 7:00 pm at Excelsior Springs High School. This is a great opportunity for students who may have missed the LPS fair earlier this fall. Colleges, technical schools and the military will be represented. Click THIS link for more information. Mandatory Flex Mtg 10th & 11th grades on Oct 27th
There will be a mandatory Flex meeting for all sophomores & Juniors on Oct 27th during Flex in the Blackbox. Students will learn about all "Off Campus Opportunities" for their schedule next year. We will discuss Early College, Career Centers, EIP, Network 53 and NCAPS.

Please encourage them to attend our "Off Campus Opportunities Mini Fair" on Nov 9th during their flextime in the Black Box theatre.
They can speak with program representatives, learn about the application process and ask questions. FAFSA Frenzy!
Seniors & Families - Paying for college can feel overwhelming, but MCC is here to help! Finding the money you need to help pay for school starts with the FAFSA? (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.) The FAFSA is your first step to apply for grants, A+, scholarships, work study, and loans. Start on the road to financing your education today! No appointment is necessary, but you can register to reserve your seat by calling 816-604-1000. We encourage you to have the following items available to help complete your FAFSA: • FSA ID (and password) for you (and your parents, if you are a dependent student). If • Social Security Number and date of birth (and parents and spouse, if applicable). • Your Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2 forms (and for your parents, if you are a dependent student, and for your spouse, if you are married). For Fall 2023, you will need these documents for tax year 2021. • Month and year you or your parents were married, separated, divorced or widowed. • Your alien registration number (if you are not a US Citizen).

Youth Kindness Opportunities: Button Art Competition
High school students (9th-12th) in the Kansas City metro area are eligible to participate. Each artist must turn in original artwork for each of the eight buttons. One button for each of the themed days and one button for our "general" SevenDays button. (Love, Discover, Others, Connect, You, Go Onward, SevenDays). $500 will be awarded to each of the eight winners. Application and details can be found on www.SevenDays.org!
MY MISSOURI "MyMO" SCHOLARSHIP PROMISE
Attention Freshmen! “MyMO” Scholarship Promise will assist Missouri students from low-income backgrounds on their pathway to college starting 9th grade year. The yearly benchmarks will help students be more college ready by senior year. Earn Scholarship Dollars for College: Students earn $2,500 each year by meeting college-going benchmarks, totaling $10,000 by senior year. These funds will be disbursed directly to the school in the form of an outside scholarship to any eligible college in Missouri on behalf of the student. For more Information Click HERE!
Grow Your Own Teacher Program
Applications are now available for the LPS Grow Your Own Teacher Program! The program is designed for students of color who will be graduates of the Liberty Public Schools and are interested in pursuing careers in education. Components of the program include: financial support, professional learning seminars, work experiences, mentor support and job placement upon successful completion of all requirements for teacher certification and criteria of the program. 2021-2022 Academic Letters are Ready!
If you qualified for the 2021-2022 Academic Letter, please stop by the Counseling Office to verify your name to be printed on the certificate by Wednesday for pick-up on Friday during your Flex. Pick-ups will occur weekly on Fridays only and you must verify your name in order to receive a certificate. Letters are $8, pins are $1, and you must have exact cash or written check.
LHS TUTORING OPTIONS
Teachers Visit with your teacher for their specific Tutoring availability. Typically before and after school during their contracted time.
Academic Labs during FLEX Time Sign up in your FLEX Manager for an Academic Lab!
Connect 30 Every Wednesday tutoring is available from 1:45-2:15pm. Check FLEX Manager to sign up in your needed content area.

Tutoring Club
Tutoring club is a free resource for students at LHS to get extra help or simply refine their skills through subject-certified student tutors. Sign up HERE.
