Thank you Parkview Families

Dear Parkview Families,

It has been an outstanding year here at Parkview. We are all very excited about the growth and improvements that have taken place. We have not only witnessed a dramatic transformation of the building, but we are also very proud of the progress the students have made. Please join us in congratulating all of the children on a job well done.

Special thanks to all of you who have contributed to the success of our school year. Success would not be possible without the support of time and talent from our parents and community volunteers. I’d like to thank in a special way Kim Marconi, our PTA president and our PTA board members, their commitment was unsurpassed. Thank you to our PTA for providing so many wonderful events and activities for our students. Parents, she will need your support so please consider joining the PTA next year and consider how you might be able to help.

Summer is a great time to continue learning, visit the library, start a hobby, or read a good book. Please make it a priority to work with your child this summer: read to them, have them count the change in the change jar, help them to make choices and order when you are out to eat, encourage good social skills with eye contact and slow and clear speech. Parkview teachers have provided the children with some resources for you. I would strongly encourage everyone to visit the Valparaiso Public Library. They have a wonderful summer program with many incentives for children. The Parkview website also has a link to Clever where the children can connect with thousands of digital books and math games.

For students in grades 3-5, the Spring 2018 ISTEP+ results are scheduled to be available on June 11. You will need to use your claim code to access the Parent Network and connect with your child’s results. If you are having difficulty, please send me an email I will be happy to assist you or answer any questions you may have.

Report cards will be available on June 8 in Skyward. It is a good idea to share your child’s report card with them and celebrate their growth and outstanding effort together.

The Parkview office will close on June 15, 2018 for the summer and reopen on July 23. Regular office hours are 8 am to 3:30 pm during the summer. As a reminder, registration will open for returning families on July 24. We are also planning a “Meet Your Teacher Ice Cream Social” on August 8, 2018 from 6-7 PM. The first day of school is August 13, 2019.

Once again, thank you for an outstanding year. Please know how much we appreciate you and your children. It has been a pleasure partnering with you. We hope you and your family have an enjoyable and safe summer.
