Warhawk Weekly - October 17, 2022
STEP UP TO THE PLATE
The Hall Way...
Hello Warhawks!
What a week! Although it was only four days, the Warhawks were quite busy. This week was all about finishing up first quarter as Monday is the first day of second quarter. Our students and staff have worked together to have a successful start to the school year and we are very proud of them!
We will be mailing home report cards the end of this upcoming week. You also will be able to see the report cards in PowerSchool. Included in the mailing will be the current MAP report from our fall assessment and IAR scores from last Spring. More information will be included in next week's newsletter to help you interpret the report and your student's scores.
Tutoring is starting this week! Check out the details below and sign up to get some extra support before or after school.
We will have a PTO Meeting on Monday, 11/17, at 6 pm in our library. Please stop by if you would like to help out.
The Warhawk Weekly is our newsletter for families and students. Each week we will share important updates and information. Please contact the school office with any questions and/or concerns you have now or anytime throughout the school year. Together we can provide a positive environment for our students to be successful and to support them to STEP UP TO THE PLATE!

Students - Is your BRAIN Healthy and Ready to Learn?
If you went through the checklist below, how many could you check off? Stay tuned as we will explore the important things your brain needs to be READY TO LEARN!
MINDFULNESS ACTIVITIES FOR A HEALTHY BRAIN
Being an adolescent can be stressful! Mindfulness is a powerful way to handle stress, develop empathy, and impulse control. Mindfulness is all about living fully in the present moment with an attitude of kindness and curiosity.
Thes task cards linked below contain 17 mindfulness exercises and instructions for each. You may choose to select a different activity for students to complete each morning.

News from the Nurse
Northwood Families,
Just a reminder that if your student requires any medication to be given or used during the school day, a new medication authorization form needs to be completed by a parent/guardian AND health care provider. If your student uses an inhaler or EpiPen and is able to administer those medications to themselves, then a "Self administration form" needs to be completed by both parent/guardian AND health care provider and returned to the health office. Those are the only two medications that a student may give themselves at school, as long as that form is completed and handed in.
Any ordered medications to be dispensed at school can be dropped off by a parent or guardian. The medication must be in the original, labeled, and unopened container, along with the medication authorization form completed. If the medication is over the counter, it still requires an order medication authorization form. Due to cabinet space, we ask that all medication is in a small bottle.
