Important Information for Car Rider Drop Off and Pick Up
This email pertains to our car rider families. I am reaching out to ask for your help during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. It has recently been observed that the procedures in place are not being followed by everyone. It is necessary and important that everyone follows the expectations below to ensure a safe arrival and dismissal process for all.
When dropping children off to school in the morning, please do not let children out of the car until you reach the silver posts. Students are being dropped off where the pavement begins. Students need to be in close proximity to the building entrance before being let out of the car.
Once on the school campus it is important that cars are not speeding through the parking lots. Arrival and dismissal are the busiest time of day with many moving parts. Please drive with caution and consideration for all.
It is expected that cars remain in line when dropping off and picking-up. Please do not pull out of the car line and go around other vehicles. This is unsafe and puts others at risk.
Please do not pull out of line and cut through the parking lot. This is unsafe and puts others at risk.
Beginning this afternoon (4/27) orange cones will be set up on the inside of the car rider lane to deter cars from getting out of line to pass other vehicles.
On an average we have 60-70 car riders daily. Most days we are able to complete the dismissal process in 20 minutes. If you are using the drop-off and pick-up lines please expect this process to take some time. Your attention, cooperation, and patience in this matter is very much appreciated.
Bus Safety Reminders
The children who ride the bus have been doing well all year with their efforts to keep themselves and others safe on the way to and from school. However, I'm passing along reminders to parents to reinforce with their children a few areas that could use improvement to help maintain each child's safety.
First, masks must be worn at all times. This is outlined in the district's Health and Safety Plan, and it is a requirement if a child would like to ride the bus. Second, children should refrain from eating/drinking on the bus. Sometimes, students may be running late and want to eat breakfast on the bus. However, this creates a hazardous situation in case there was ever an issue with a child choking. In addition, eating or drinking would require a mask to be removed and students are not always six feet apart while riding the bus. Lastly, students need to remain seated at all times while the bus is in motion.
Kindly take a moment to review these safety expectations with your child. At school, we remind students that they are responsible for themselves, but they need to take care of others. Thank you in advance for helping to reinforce this message.
Spirit Week!
Spirit Week is approaching! In addition to events being played during PE, we also have some other activities planned to make the whole week filled with fun. Each morning, there will be a sports-themed trivia question announced to the entire school. Students will have the whole school day to write down their answer and give it to their homeroom teacher. Answers to the questions will be announced the next morning. When students have PE, they will be asked to wear white or blue depending on what team they are on and for the other days of the week they will be invited to wear sports team jerseys, township team shirts, etc. We also will have a school-wide trick shot contest, sports hat day, a week-long sports scavenger hunt, and more. Students can wear their Spirit Week t-shirt or any blue and white WES spirit wear. Please review the TEAMS More details to follow soon.

News from P.E. Class
Students are having a blast this spring in the gym! They are learning how to work together in small groups to accomplish a task. From castle building to marble pipeline creations, they are amazing at collaboration. The rock wall is the fan favorite with students of all grades showing us their incredible climbing skills!
PSSA Testing Grade 4
We are proud of students' effort and focus this week during their PSSA testing, as they demonstrated careful and diligent work. Our English Language Arts and Math assessments are now complete, and the students in grade 4 will complete the Science assessment on Monday, May 3rd, and Tuesday, May 4th.
Although it is not always possible, it is best to avoid having children take make-up tests. Therefore, it is helpful to schedule necessary appointments outside the testing times and have your child present at school each day on time.
Children will be using their Chromebooks for this PSSA testing, so there is an increased need for students to bring a charged Chromebook each day. We know that the children will be successful when they give their best effort, and the staff and I appreciate your support.

Yearbook photos needed
Families, we need your help! We would like to provide students with a memorable yearbook this year. Due to the restrictions that prevent parent photographers from being in the building, we need your pictures throughout the year. These photographs should only include students at Wrightstown Elementary School. Please upload your photos below. Thank you in advance for your help to create a memorial yearbook for our students!
Literacy Corner by Mrs. Etgen
Today is the day! The end of the month is here and we already have SO many students who have logged in their reading minutes for the month. If your child has not logged their minutes yet please have them do so as soon as possible on the form at this link.
It is wonderful to see the students SO excited about reading and about their challenge for this month! Our goal is 80,000 minutes, and our incentive is a
Reading Beach Party! Remember if our April reading goal is met, students will be permitted to bring in beach towels, and enjoy half an hour of outdoor “beach reading”, complete with water ice!
Thank you for encouraging your child to read at home. Independent reading is the best way to build stamina in reading fluency, comprehension, and of course, a love of reading. Please remember that daily reading logs can be found on my website or at this link. I also have some reading suggestions for different grade levels. Please feel free to reach out if you need ideas for books for your children! I love to help students select their best-fit books. Go, Wrightstown Readers!!

reminders!
Friendly Reminders
- When dropping off or picking up your child (ren) at the gym entrance, please make sure that you pull all the way up to the end of the sidewalk, past the gym entrance. This can help lighten the traffic on Penns Park Road.
- It is important that cars do not block the flow of traffic when picking up at the end of the day. Please do not block buses and cars from having the ability to exit the campus.
- Masks must be worn when on-site, approaching the building. Thank you for your attention to this requirement.
CAR RIDER DROP OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES
If you are new to Car Pick Up Only: During the first week of your return to school, every car rider family received two (2) placards. Students will be given these placards to take home. Please note, these placards will be distributed per family, not students. We appreciate your patience as we transition to these new procedures. It will take some time for this new process to become routine.
- Two (2) placards will be provided per car rider family.
- Placards must be displayed in the car windshield in full view for staff to see when picking up students.
- Remember to remain in your car during this process. Staff members assigned to this area will assist your child to your vehicle.
- If you don’t have a placard displayed and the staff doesn’t recognize you, you will be asked to park and visit the main office in the front of the building to provide identification to sign your child out.
Here is how car rider dismissal procedures will work:
-Display your school-issued placard in your car windshield so that it is visible.
-Upon entering the school site you will turn left (there is a sign on the right of the driveway indicating this) and drive through the front parking lot.
-Once you come to a stop sign you will cross over the bus lane into another parking lot and turn right.
-You will proceed down toward the gym entrance and pull your car up as far as you can go. Cones will be stationed in this area.
-Please remain in your car.
-A staff member will write down your child’s name and radio the office to call for your child/ren to be dismissed from their classroom to the gym doors.
-Depending on the time that it takes your child to exit the building, you may be asked to move your car out of the line and park in a parking space. Staff will direct you.
If your child is a car rider, you will no longer be permitted to park in the staff/visitor parking lot, walk up and receive your child. You must remain in the car line to pick up your child/ren. No child will be released to a parent/person outside of their car.
Car rider procedures for morning drop off remain the same.
-Once on site follow the signs for car rider drop off located on the gym side of the school.
-Parents pull their car up to the gym side of the school where you will remain in your car.
-Children exit the car from the passenger side only and enter the school through the gym doors.

Free Lunch for Every Student in CR Extended through the End of the School Year
CRSD has communicated information to families about our free lunches for all students. It really is FREE and it is for ALL students! Through a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, CRSD will be able to provide all students in the District with lunch on school days at no cost to families. The free lunches are available to both in-school students and 100% virtual students.
In addition to the great choices available for children, each day they have the option of pizza or a fun lunch. Also, all meals come with fruit, vegetables, and milk.
A la carte items (e.g., snacks, ice cream, and certain drinks) are NOT included as part of the free meal and must be paid for the student’s lunch account. A la carte purchases will be deducted from the account after purchased.
Please contact the cafeteria manager at Wescafeteria@crsd.org if you have any questions.
If you would like your child to purchase snacks or additional menu items, you may add them to your child's lunch account using the button below. Please note, you do not need to add to this account to take advantage of the free lunch program for all students.

Family Trip Request Form
Please ensure the Family Trip Request Form is completed prior to the start of your trip. This form is located on the front of the WES website and is also provided directly below.
Chromebook Support
Students/parents should use our help desk system at the following link: https://crsdstudent.sherpadesk.com
The system will allow students/parents (student ID is required to submit a ticket) to submit a ticket for help. It will also allow them to see the status of existing tickets.
The first time they use the system, they will need to set up their account. This will require a unique email address, the location where the student attends school (this is a required field), their first and last name, a phone number where they can be reached (if additional/different contact information/preferences are desired, they can be included in the body of the request), the type of issue (called class on the form - this is also required), the student ID (this is required), a subject or brief description of the issue, and then the details about the issue.
To see the status of a ticket that was submitted, they can click on that option, log in with their email address and password (set during account creation).
We will continue to monitor the chrome support email address but will refer parents/students to the ticketing system if they have an issue or problem that needs to be resolved.
The two biggest advantages to this system are that the ticket will go directly to a technician, and the parent/student will be able to see the status of the tickets they have entered.
