Thundering Herd
Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter

Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
Outside this morning was a cold, messy start to March. Inside the building was a different matter. Students adjusted to the two hour delay schedule without any major hiccups.
We have a few TVs that hang in hallways and we've recently been able to push a new format with updated content out to them. Now we can display any notable picture or video to the monitors including the weekly announcements and the Have You Herd episodes. Our school twitter feeds are connected along with the weather and scrolling news across the bottom. We are excited to be able to further celebrate all the wonderful things that are happening in our very own hallways!
Members of the Afro-American History Project of Woodbury came in to speak to students twice this week about a variety of topics. Our Video Arts Design team of students were able to live stream these conversations. If you are interested in watching them yourself, you can click here and here.
Congratulations to both the Boy's and Girl's basketball teams on their strong seasons. To our seniors who have now played their last game for the Thundering Herd - thank you for your spirit and dedication; you will be missed on the court!
Have an enjoyable weekend!
Keep Love Present,
Dr. Vivadelli

Junior High Spirit Days
On the first Friday of every month going forward, Junior High students will be celebrating spirit days. Wearing pjs, dressing as your favorite character from a book, meme day and hawaiian luau are the themes. Please take a look at the attached image for the dates. You can contact student council advisers Mrs. Fehre and Ms. Gligor with any questions.

A Peek into Conversational Spanish
From Mrs. Crowley:
My Conversational Spanish class is learning how to express their opinions of various foods and beverages, which is actually really challenging. We realized sophomore Jayla Robinson was turning 16 on 2/27 and freshman Sonny Gladness was born on Leap Day (2/29) and turning 15. To celebrate our students' milestones and relate to our curriculum, we planned a party. Mrs. Williams purchased them a personalized cookie cake and I made cookies and brought snacks. Students tried the foods and wrote their opinions in Spanish with correct gender number agreement.

Project Graduation
Project Graduation is a safe and free night of fun for our graduates. It has been a part of Woodbury High School for many years. For the last six years Project Graduation has been held at Rastelli’s Sports & More in Deptford, NJ.
The night of graduation, our graduates return to the high school approximately 9pm. The students and parent volunteer chaperones are bused to the venue. For the next 3-4 hours the graduates enjoy many activities such as a photo booth, basketball, swimming, Gaga Ball, volley ball, Tether ball and a live DJ. Food is provided for all graduates at the venue. In years past, we raised enough funds to give participating graduates a small gift of a Wawa gift card and a Project Graduation t-shirt. At approximately 1:30 am. the students and volunteers are bussed back to the high school.
All costs, including transportation to and from the venue, are covered through fundraising efforts and donations.
The 2018-2019 Project Graduation Committee consists of only 9 parent volunteers. Fundraising has been particularly challenging this year. Our efforts have not raised as much money as we have hoped for at this point. Having so few volunteers makes it difficult to raise the needed funds.
We need your help! It doesn’t matter if your child is in elementary school, 6th, 7th, 8th grade or in the high school. Please join us at our next meeting. If we don’t get more volunteers, we fear there will be no Project Graduation for our graduates this year.
