Energy Bike Training
May 2, 2017, 4:30-6:30pm
Linmoor Education Center, 2001 Hamilton Ave., 43211
Learn to set up, tear down, and use the Energy Bike within your classroom or for a family night event. The Energy Bike meets the 4th and 7th grade science standards, but is fun for all! After training you will be able to reserve the bike for your school.
Picture Perfect Science PD

Picture Perfect Science is a fantastic resource that uses fiction and non-fiction literature along with hands on activities to teach science through the 5E's (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate). Participants will receive 1 of the Picture Perfect Science resources books!
ATTENTION 4th grade teachers
4th grade Ohio Learning Standards for Science. (See chart below to see how the program can meet your 4th grade science and math standards.)
The e3 curriculum is an innovative approach connecting science and energy with daily life. Students conduct experiments at school and apply their knowledge at home to create a school-to-home connection that inspires the next generation to be energy smart consumers. You will need to complete the training to receive the materials.
Teacher benefits:
- Free curriculum and lab equipment
- Free Energy Efficient Kit for every student (with bulbs, weather stripping, showerhead, etc.)
- Teacher Stipend ($100 for 1st year, $200 for returning teachers) a percentage of student home surveys will need to be completed
- CEUs and optional graduate credit
OEP offers free training with summer dates available.
4th grade teachers using the program for the first time can attend 1 of the following dates: Thursday, July 20, Wednesday, August 9, Tuesday, September 12, or Tuesday, October 10.
If you are an e3 returning teacher, please see the website to sign up for training options. Returning teachers may "drop in" for about 30 minutes to get training on July 11 from 10am-1pm, July 20 from 4-5:30pm, or August 9 from 4-5:30pm.
If you do not teach 4th grade, please encourage your 4th grade teacher to consider this program.

Backyard Conservation Day at the Ohio State Fair

Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District is once again having Backyard Conservation Day at the Ohio State Fair in the Showcase Pavilion. We partner with other county Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Metro Parks and local nurseries such as Scioto Gardens to provide activities, information and native plants to purchase. Fairgoers can participate in a rain barrel raffle, learn about backyard conservation, chickens, native plants, and our local natural resources, and enjoy kids’ activities.

Cost is $100 (additional fee of $175 for Ashland University credit optional).

Teachers For All Grades | Free! | One Free Teacher per Reservation
Join COSI and exhibitors from all around Ohio at the 12th Annual COSI Teacher Resource Fair. Visit COSI's classic exhibitions and meet representatives from your favorite Ohio organizations that support teachers.
Includes free general admission to COSI for teachers, a free movie in COSI’s National Geographic Giant Screen Theater, a free show in the Planetarium (both will be scheduled on date of visit with the Box Office), fun freebies, door prizes, and more!
This free event is exclusively for formal teachers, non-formal teachers, and after-school educators. Teacher attendees must present a valid school ID, copy of a valid teaching certificate, school pay stub, or other proof of teacher status at check-in. Additional non-teacher guests must purchase COSI admission at the Box Office. Admission to COSI's Adventure exhibition is not included but may be purchased at the COSI Box Office. Homeschool educators may attend with proof of homeschool status, such as a letter from their school district confirming their homeschool status, or a valid membership card to a known homeschool association. One homeschool educator admitted free per homeschool family.
