From the Principal

We had our first PTO meeting on Tuesday morning. Thank you to everyone who attended! Please visit the PTO website for more information on meetings, spirit wear, and fundraising.

You should have received district communication regarding the change in the elementary school day for next year. Please take a moment to read the email below and provide your feedback on the elementary learning experience.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 is excited to begin planning for the new elementary school day that will be implemented for the 2020-2021 school year.

It is important for us to engage parents and staff members in the process. Included in this message is a link to the new elementary school day page on the District 303 website where you will find a short informational video, a form where you can provide feedback, and a list of frequently asked questions. You may access this page anytime under the About tab on the website.

A group of parents and staff members we are calling the Think Tank will analyze the information gathered on the feedback form, and provide input and guidance throughout the process. In addition, their work will be shared with a variety of stakeholder groups in the district. In order for them to begin their work on September 23, we request that you complete the feedback form by September 20. We appreciate the time that you are taking to view the video and complete the form. Your voice and opinion matter!

Have a great night!

Kristy McKnight

School Hours

A reminder that supervision begins at 8:25 am. Classes and instructional time begins at 8:40. Please be mindful of the time when you are dropping off your child so that we can be sure they are supervised.

Wear Your Hat!

Ferson Creek will be having Hat Day for a cause tomorrow! Students are encouraged to bring $1 on Friday, September 13th and wear a hat as we raise money for our St. Charles Kick-A-Thon. Kick-A-Thon is a joint effort by St. Charles North and East High Schools to raise money to help fight cancer. Kick-A-Thon directly supports the Living Well Cancer Resource Center, Food for Health, and the American Cancer Society.

So, have your child wear their favorite hat, bring $1 and support our community effort to fight cancer!

For more information, please visit https://www.kick-a-thon.org

School Picture Orders and Retakes

Picture day was Wednesday, Sept. 11th. Proofs and prints are expected to arrive in three to four weeks. Photos may also be ordered online at Inter-State Studio.

If your student was unable to attend picture day, retakes will take place on Wednesday, October 23rd.

AVIC in the Classroom

Our first AVIC (Art Volunteers in the Classroom) is coming up next week and we have some fantastic projects planned around the painting Three Flags by Jasper Johns, which is hanging in a Ferson hallway. If you'd like to come and help with your child/ren's grade level, SIGN UP HERE. No art experience necessary! You'll receive easy instructions to help a group of kids complete some great projects. We also have a few supply needs. This month we need fabric that is red or white or blue. Any patterns are great but no other colors than those will work for this project. Please bring any donations to a bin just inside the double doors by Friday afternoon, Sept. 13. Thank you in advance! Questions? Please contact Ashley Holdsworth at aholdswo@gmail.com.

It's Time to Think Cold!

The PTO is providing cold weather bags for new families this year, please fill out the form for each student new to Ferson Creek. If you have more than one child, please fill it out for each new student needing a bag. Replacement bags can be purchased for $3 each by filling out the same form and indicating it is a replacement. You can access the form here.

Parent University

The district is offering many engaging Parent University programs this year. The first offering, is the viewing of the documentary "LIKE" at the Norris Cultural Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 23rd.

LIKE, from the producers of the movie ANGST, is about the impact of social media on our lives. Watch the trailer by visiting thelikemovie.com, and then bring your children to see this powerful movie about society’s addiction to our phones. Please visit our district website for more information on the Parent University offerings, or to RSVP.

Our SECOND annual Pizza Night for Dads & Kids is next Wednesday, September 18, 2019, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Ferson Creek Community Room. At 6:00 PM we will have FREE pizza and drinks. At 6:30 PM, there will be a presentation for the adults about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program and a fun activity for the kids.

WATCH D.O.G.S.® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their students' lives. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day at school before the end of the school year, serving as a positive, male role model and providing an extra set of eyes and ears.

If you are interested in attending and learning more about WATCH D.O.G.S.®, please fill out the information in this link.
