Kindest Kansas Citian
It is time for the 2020 Kindest Kansas Citian Contest! This contest, sponsored by Synergy Services, is designed to help students define kindness and identify adult role models who demonstrate kind, caring, and respectful behavior that the students would like to emulate in their lives.
Each student is encouraged to submit an essay (students k-5) or drawing (students K-2) identifying an individual, couple, or group who serves as a caring role model in their life. Nominees must be a KC Metro resident, 18 years of age or older, and NOT related to the student. Your child will be bringing home a copy of the entry form and guidelines this week. Entries must be submitted to Mrs. Graham by Tuesday, January 28, 2019.
All participating students and their nominees will be invited to a Kindest Kansas Citian reception held at Mize Elementary in early spring.

Vision Screening
Vision Screening will take place on January 27th and 28th. Your Mize nursing office will screen our Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade classes. Students in odd grades who failed their vision screen last year will be rescreened, as will all new students to the De Soto district. If your child wears glasses or contact please make sure they bring them to school on January 27th & 28th.
The Nursing office would love volunteers to help with this year’s Vision Screening!
We need assistance escorting children from their classroom to the conference room where vision screenings will be held. Kids also get excited with new activities, we would love help keeping our amazing kids focused and on task while other students have their vision screened
Thank you from our Mize nursing office,
