From The Desk of Mr. Anderson...
Hello Morris Families!
Spring is just around the corner - we hope! Punxsutawney Phil may not have been telling the truth. We are in pretty good shape as far as make up days, but there are other districts that aren't as lucky as us! The cold snap has taken its toll on Morris this year, as we have not been able to spread out and get outside with the temperatures. This has led to us being able to share germs a lot easier. We have been washing hands, cleaning desks, wiping down surfaces, and disinfecting as much as we possibly can. We appreciate the efforts in helping to battle the flu bug this year!
Spring Break will be March 18-22. Take the time to relax! I am excited as this is the first time we will take a small family trip ourselves! (Sometimes travel can be more stressful than relaxing, I know!) We will be back at it Monday, March 25, and it is GO TIME! The end of year quickly hits us like a ton of bricks!
Speaking of bricks, construction is moving along inside! We most likely won't get into the rooms until May, at the earliest. Most likely, we will occupy next fall. I'll do my best to send out some pictures soon!
Looking ahead to next fall and the 2019-20 school year, we are hosting an incoming Kindergarten Parents Information Night on Tuesday, March 12 at 6pm. Please share the information listed later in the Minute with anyone you know who has a child that will be five years old by September 15 of this year. Online registration for Kindergarten (and Developmental Kindergarten) opens on March 11 - share the news!
I always enjoy seeing so many parents attend Parent Teacher Conferences. We really are a team, and your students' success depends on your input! It is hard to believe the year is winding down - we've got lots of great learning still ahead of us though.
Happy Spring!
Sincerely,
Mr. Anderson

Backpack Program
The Backpack Program is a partnership between The Food Bank of Iowa and Bondurant-Farrar Elementary Schools. The goal of this program is to help end childhood hunger in Iowa and assist preschool through fifth grade families that are experiencing financial hardship or food insecurity. On Fridays, a Backpack food bundle is put into the backpack of each participating student. The Backpack bundles are made up of packaged food items that can easily be opened or prepared by children for a two-day weekend. If you are a family who would like to participate in this program or have more questions, please contact Mrs. McConnell at mcconnellk@bfschools.org.
A few notes from Ms. Jen
I'm pretty sure I said at the end of last month I was ready for the cold weather to go away. Mother Nature has her own ideas. We all will be happy when the temps stay above freezing for several days in a row and the students can get outside.
I know sending snow gear every day can be a pain, but please continue to do so until the snow melts - if the feels like temp is above ten, they will go out, but will have to stay on hard surfaces if they don't have snow pants and snow boots.
Speaking of winter gear, if you are missing any pieces - it just might be in our Lost & Found - if you did not stop by the three packed tables of clothing items during conferences, I highly suggest you come in another time to take a look. Anything not claimed by Spring Break will be donated.
Our last day of school is now scheduled to be May 30. (Fingers crossed it stays there - c'mon Mother Nature!) I hope you all enjoy a well deserved Spring Break March 18-22 - I will be in the office some of those days, but probably not all of them that week. I sincerely hope it actually FEELS like Spring by then too. :) Have a Marvelous Month of March!
