Progress and Report Cards
During the early stages of our school closures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the district’s grading practices were modified and communicated with parents and students. This included a focus on monitoring student progress and providing feedback on student learning outcomes rather than using a traditional grading system.
As we near the completion of the school year, an update on the guidance for assessing and communicating student progress during At-Home Learning has been created. The update explains how student progress will be communicated on the report card at the completion of the 4th Nine Weeks and 2nd Semester. The new information on communicating student progress during At-Home Learning is noted in red text within this document:
With the standards-based report card utilized in Kindergarten and 1st Grade, only the major categories within the content areas, and not the specific skills, will reflect a performance marking. As in previous nine weeks grading periods, if a concept is not taught during the nine weeks, an indicator of performance will not be recorded. Similarly, a performance marking will not be recorded in the area of Social Development / Work Habits since these behaviors may be difficult to observe during At-Home Learning.
As we near the end of the school year, you are encouraged to e-mail your child’s teacher(s) for questions about the learning activities and/or feedback on your child’s progress. Report cards will be posted in Skyward on May 22, 2020.

First Baptist Church Allen – We Care Ministry Food Pantry
The Food Pantry distributes food and household items to residents of Allen who lack the resources to purchase the food supplies needed to maintain a healthy life. This is a "choice pantry" versus a "pre-bagged pantry," so we are able to meet an individual's nutritional needs as well as provide the foods they enjoy. One-time emergency assistance is offered without required proof, for continued assistance proof of residency and income is required.

Allen ISD Closing all Lockable Fields and Playgrounds
The public is encouraged not to congregate in large groups on open playfields or playgrounds on Allen ISD or City of Allen property. Locked facilities are completely closed to the public. AISD will keep the community notified when the facilities are reopened.
School Closed Through the End of the School Year
Allen ISD schools will remain closed through the end of the school year in an effort to support the community, region and nation’s need to slow the spread of COVID-19. Though our schools are closed, learning is still very much in session. Our teachers and staff will continue to work throughout the end of the school year to provide our students with enriched learning opportunities.
This action follows Governor Greg Abbott's announcement on April 17 that Texas schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year.
Updates from the Superintendent will be sent through School Messenger and provided on the Web.
