A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Greetings, members of the Kingsway community! Kingsway Regional Middle School is wrapping up a very productive month of January. Our first annual 8th Grade Winter Wonderland Semi Formal Dance drew 300 students for some late night fun. The students had a blast and hopefully created a memory that they will never forget here at the middle school. Many of our students took advantage of various community service activities as “serving others” was the #1DragonFamily theme of the month. Students stayed to assist teachers and staff members after school, gave their time to local organizations, and stayed after to make PBJ sandwiches for a local soup kitchen. Our annual student council speedball tournament was a huge success; over 100 students participated. Congratulations to the winning team, Squad Wipers. Finally, the 8th grade students have been hard at work preparing for our 5th annual Black History Month celebration entitled, The African American Experience on Friday, February 1. We have many upcoming events to look forward to in February beginning with this Friday's event. We hope to see you there. Additionally, the 3rd Renaissance Celebration at Dave and Buster’s is sure to be a success later this month. GO DRAGONS!

Miscellaneous
Lockdown Buttons: Two weeks ago new lockdown buttons were installed throughout the middle school. These buttons now give us the ability to notify the county dispatch office in a moment’s notice if we are to go into lockdown. The system also notifies all students and teachers instantly that the building is in lockdown.
Activity Calendar: On the left hand side of the Kingsway home page, you will find a calendar indicating when each of our clubs and activities will be taking place. http://www.tricountyconferencenj.org/g5-bin/client.cgi?G5genie=347&school_id=12
Math Working Lunch: Please encourage your student to utilize our Math Working Lunch Program if he/she needs some extra assistance in math. During the math working lunch, teachers will clarify questions and provide extra math practice time in a small class setting as students eat their lunch. Math teachers are available every lunch period to assist your child; please encourage them to ask for a pass to attend.
PowerSchool Contact Information: Please make sure to update your contact information in PowerSchool if your phone or email address changes. We rely heavily on the information in that system when communicating to our parents. Finally, please double check your spam folder to be sure that our communication from the school is not landing in that location.
Field Trip: This spring, both the 7th and 8th grade students will be attending a grade level field trip. The 7th grade students will be going to Camp Ockanickon, and the 8th grade will be enjoying a dinner cruise on the Spirit of Philadelphia. Both trips will require a student fee of approximately $45.00 and $55.00 respectively. The fee will be collected closer to spring, but we wanted to make parents/guardians aware well in advance. The students are certain to have a wonderful time!
Middle School Student Brings Holiday Cheer to Hospitalized Children-by KRMS News
The holiday season is a busy time of the year for everybody, but for one eighth grader it wasn’t about shopping, decorating, or ugly sweaters. For Audrey Pachuta, the holiday season meant that it was time to share joy and cheer with others. Continuing an effort that she began in elementary school, Audrey Pachuta organized an event where students of the middle school created holiday cards for children in hospitals who were too ill to be home for the holidays. Audrey coordinated her efforts between the local hospitals and the middle school. Students in the Community Service club as well as volunteers in each homeroom joined together to create hundreds of colorful holiday cards filled with positive messages for the young hospital patients. With the support she has received along the way, Audrey hopes to continue this important effort for many years to come.
Attendance During Renaissance Celebrations: Students who attend our Renaissance Celebrations each marking period will be marked absent for the classes they miss. This is a clerical decision and does not affect the students negatively at all. They are certainly still eligible for perfect attendance.
