How Global Warming is Causing Climate Change and Affecting the Planet

Our issue that we are presenting to you today is global warming and how climate change is increasing global warming. We care about this topic because global warming is deteriorating our society in drastic, global effects. We may not see the full affect now, right in front of us, but, everywhere, in the ocean, around coasts, even in Texas, events such as increased temperatures, melting glaciers, and warming ocean temperatures are occurring. This is something that we want to attempt to solve and we hope our presentation will give you some insight on how enormous of a problem this really is.

About Chasing Ice

"In the spring of 2005, acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog headed to the Arctic on a tricky assignment for National Geographic: to capture images to help tell the story of the Earth’s changing climate. Even with a scientific upbringing, Balog had been a skeptic about climate change. But that first trip north opened his eyes to the biggest story in human history and sparked a challenge within him that would put his career and his very well-being at risk. Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet."

How Global Warming Has Affected Greenland

The Greenland ice sheet is warmer than the Antarctic ice sheet and as a result, global warming could produce serious melting on Greenland while having less effect in the Antarctic. This source ties into our bibliography by demonstrating the global warming caused by humans is rapidly melting ice. This source was useful in getting our points across because of the use of it explaining how warming of temperatures caused by humans has caused a decline in the global freshwater ice in Greenland and Antarctica.

If Global Warming Persists, Texas is Screwed

The main arguments in this source are that if climate change continues, the impact in Texas during the hot days will be the most prominent. The point of this source is to illustrate how if negative climate change continues to occur, the commodity crop output of Texas will be extremely adversely affected. This source relates to the overall issue because it portrays how much damage global warming does to just one area in a short period of time. It has changed how I think about my environmental issue because I did not realize how much climate change was causing certain areas to deteriorate that much.

Global Warming is Troubling For Us All

Global Warming is REAL, and is happening now. Many people often think that global warming is something that will not affect us too much, but in reality, it’s a problem we have to deal with for the good of us and for future generations. Many deadly side effects with the weather can pose a serious threat to everyone around the world including Texas. This can relate to our issue because it gives an outlook on what global warming is really like and displays the sense that is not something that we can put off for later, it is something that we need to take action now.

Obviously, there is not just one solution to global warming, but one thing we can do to reduce the impact of it is to use transportation that does not consume as much fuel. We can do that by:

  1. Walking or riding your bike to work and around town for small errands
  2. Using public transportation and carpool
  3. Driving less and invest in fuel-efficient vehicles
  4. Considering carbon offsets for your travel
