Why do people smoke?
You are probably wondering why people smoke. Well "Indigenous" people started smoking natural herbs for health reasons. They took different herbs and would roll them up to create a cigarette. Then cigarette companies took the idea and put tobacco in it along with tons of other chemicals. Some of these chemicals are VERY addictive and once you start smoking, its hard to stop!
COPD develops over time. In most cases, COPD is diagnosed in people over 40 years of age. Someone with COPD may not realize that they are becoming more short of breath until it becomes very hard to do simple tasks like walking up stairs. When you have COPD, your lungs are blocked, making it hard to breathe.
Asthma is a common long term disease of the airways of the lungs. It is characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction. Symptoms include episodes of wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. These episodes may occur a few times a day or a few times per week. Depending on the person they may become worse at night or with exercise.
