The Falcon Flyer

May 2022

Dear Foothills Families,

Happy May to everyone!! It is hard to believe that there are four weeks left of this amazing school year.

We have some fun end of year activities happening this month so make sure you look at the Calendar of Events below. Also, please remember that for the next couple of weeks we will be finishing our end of the year testing. Please make sure your kids arrive on time since the teachers are testing in the morning. So far everyone has done a great job. Thanks!

It is that time of year to remind students to return or pay for lost library books. We appreciate your help and support with getting all our library books and Take Home Library books returned. It is also that time of year to come visit our Lost and Found. We have many jackets and other items that would love to go home with their owner!

Have you registered for the 2022-2023 school year yet? Click here to register if you haven't been able to yet, and let your neighbors new to Nebo know they can register now too! If you know for certain that your student will not be returning to Foothills in the fall please let the office know as soon as possible (801-423-9172). Thank you for your support with this so we can get an idea of what our numbers will look like for next school year.

As you register your children for school next year you may start thinking about teacher assignments. Regarding teacher requests for next year, we will still be following the same policy that has been in place the past several years. As always, teacher input will be one of the greatest factors in placing students. In addition to teacher input I would love to have information from parents regarding their child’s individual strengths, learning styles, behavior issues, etc. (These letters/emails should not contain a specific, desired teacher's name). In addition, if you have had a specific negative experience with a certain teacher in the past with one of your own children I would like to know this as well. Please know that class placement is a difficult task that I take very seriously. If you choose not to inform me through letter or email about your child before June 15, there will be no changes to class placement once your child has been placed with a teacher. It is so much easier to get it right early on than make last minute changes. The letters can be in the form of email to me ( or written letter delivered to the office. We will be accepting these anytime from now until June 15. We feel that with the quality of teachers we have at Foothills every child can have a great experience with any of the teachers here. If there are any questions regarding student placement don’t hesitate to call or email me.

Thank you, everyone, for making this an AMAZING school year. As we continued to deal with the effects of COVID-19 this school year our families have been so understanding, so supportive, and so kind. We have such hard working, helpful, happy students. They have truly "Aimed for Greatness" this year! I would like to thank the wonderful PTO group and parent volunteers that we have had this year. I love working with the great students, parents, teachers, and staff who are associated with Foothills Elementary. Have a wonderful, safe summer and don’t forget to read and practice math facts!

Foothills Family Fun Night

We want to celebrate this awesome year by coming together as a Foothills community to eat and play and have fun! Mark your calendars for May 16th from 5:00-6:00. We will have a free hot dog dinner, games, and activities. Watch for a note coming home this week so you can RSVP and let us know you are coming!

Staying Safe in the Neighborhood

With the warmer weather we wanted to remind our students of some safety rules when coming to and from school.

1. When walking stay on sidewalks, look both ways, and use crosswalks.

2. If you walk by the canal there is water running through it now so stay away from the canal and don't walk along the canal wall.

3. When riding your bike stay on sidewalks, walk your bike through crosswalks, and lock your bike up in our bike rack.

School Community Council Parents Needed

We have some open spots on our School Community Council for the 2022-2023 school year. Serving on the council is a great opportunity to help make important decisions regarding the education of Foothills' students. We meet once a month to talk about the successes and needs of the school and discuss the best way to support our teachers and students. If you are interested in serving on the council or have any questions about it, please email We look forward to having a great council next year!

Thank you Parents

Thank you parents for all your support with this amazing school year and all you are doing to keep our students safe and healthy.

Here are a few reminders of how you can help us at school:

  • If your child does not feel well, please keep them home to get better.
  • Check in at the office before going any further into our school building.
