Lil Steamer Families –
I recently read an article that shared at the start of the school year, a survey revealed that 50% of principals were stressed out to the point of quitting. And I will admit that earlier this school year, I felt like I was at that breaking point. It was the lowest I have felt in my 18 year educational career. Too much stress, not enough time, and poor stress management by me.
However, as the year has progressed there are so many positives to take away from this school year. I still have my challenges, but it is easy to see the negative in every situation when it comes from a negative mindset. Look for a yellow car while you’re driving and you’ll find a yellow car.
So, the change in mindset has been critical for me. But there is also so much more to be thankful for beyond the challenges I have been facing this school year.
I’m thankful that I get to serve in such a wonderful community who shows its support time and time again.
I’m thankful for families who donate the most precious gift of time to their children and our schools.
I’m thankful for families who think I am being too lenient with discipline for their child and recommend a harsher consequence!
I’m thankful for families who approach an issue with questions to understand instead of accusations based on what they know of a situation at that moment.
I’m thankful for teachers and staff who are flexible and supportive of new ideas and initiatives.
I’m thankful for teachers and staff who go above and beyond their expectations each and every day.
I’m thankful for students who demonstrate kindness and caring to others.
I’m thankful for students who include others in activities and try to make our school better every day.
I love the direction our schools (and school district) are currently heading. I love the daily interactions that occur each day at school. And I love being the principal at the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe!
Thanks again for all of the unseen ways in which your families contribute to Steamer Nation.
Warm Regards,
JAGH
