In one paragraph introduce yourself to a university
Hello my name is Brandon Galvan i would love to be able to attend your school because I found out that it was the best one for criminal justice. Talking high about yourself is something that i don't do, i find it more Honorable not to. I would rather you see me as an honest person, other than someone who can live up to what he/she says. All i can say is that I would love to be accepted into your school because I would just love to be apart of a great school with amazing history.
Envision yourself near the end of a fulfilling, lifelong career and you published a autobiography.
"The Pull Of Two Roads" would be the title and it introduce it i would start in the beginning. Growing up in a bad area of Texas is hard, there is very little work and even if there was it was hard for a single mom to raise and support two kids. My life was revolved around struggle and unfairness. I found that i was a kid that had a violent side I would get into disrespect the teachers and my parent. I found that there is a way to live my life in a more peaceful but still fulfilling to my violent side. Martial arts taught me to control and let out both sides to my personality. Growing up with a mom that saw you as a check and a way to get back at her ex-husband it was hard. But training everyday learning new things and even finding new styles online and in books it grew into a passion for me and to this day still is.
Imagine being able to join a conversation between two people living or deceased.
I would want to have this conversation with IP Man and Bruce Lee. this two martial artist went through hard times and still became legends IP Man training Bruce Lee and Bruce becoming one of the greatest fighters EVER! I would ask them very little like what could i do to become great like them and two would be if we could spar. fighting is more than just hitting and violence, its also communication. If i had that opportunity i could not only learn from them but more about them just by a exchange in strikes. After I would want them to train me, even if it was for a day it would be a honor to be trained by the greatest fighters ever.
Describe how you would use your education to achieve your personal and professional goals
i would use this knowledge that you give me to become a great police officer and then later after i have some money saved up travel around China and Japan and learn even more Martial arts. After that i would like to open a school up for those who wish to learn about martial arts and with this school i would like to create my own style based off all that i have learned in the past. With the knowledge of the fighting styles in other countries, police force and Marines i will like to create a great fighting style.
Describe a specific accomplishment or experience and its influence on you
It was Middle school year; 8th grade to be exacted, and this kid was talking about beating up a younger kid just cause he said that he was a dumb ass. I heard this person talk about beating this kid up and i didn't take into concentration that he was telling the truth. On that same day there was a fight that broke out and I saw that it was the same kid that was talking trash. My school reaction was to watch but my martial arts action was to take action. I was able to get the two apart and had the one that called the other a dumb ass get out of the area, but know the kid had his pint up anger and rage aimed at me. I was taught never to fight for unworthy reasons but as he charged I realized that it wasn't an unworthy reason I was protecting someone else and as he came at me my body didn't need me to tell it what to do it was all intent. As a fighter I can tell you that it was as if I was slowing down time and I was just in that moment. the fight only lasted a few minutes maybe two at the most but it felt like a hour or more. the enjoyment I felt afterword was indescribable. That's when I knew that the one thing that will make me feel like that for a long time would be to protect the people that need my help.
Explore a moral dilemma you faced and how you dealt with it
Before I found my reason for fighting i was put in some every interesting situations. One was when I was faced with the chance to beat the crap out of someone. He was talking crap about my family and that's my trigger. (A trigger is something someone has to do or say that sets you off) And in this moment i let my rage best me and decided to fight this kid. knowing that I am trained in fighting and he was not gave me a advantage. when we started fighting I was winning right of the bat with amazing strikes at some point he said that he gave up and I didn't let up as he was on the ground protecting his head I then realized that I was using something that was meant to protect people for or in a manner that wasn't meant for rage and revenge. That day was the day I realized what I needed to do with my knowledge.
Evaluate a risk you have taken, what resulted and what you learned from this experience
I was training back in my hometown of Texas and I found a interesting area to train on mediation and strikes. As i was training i found that there was a ribbon at the near top of this tree so I decide to climb it not knowing if i would even make it or fall but it was a fear that I would fall that cause me to push myself further. About 3/4 there and the branch I was on snapped and I drop a good distance. Landing on my shoulder and back popped my shoulder out of place and broke my wrist. It was the highest fall I have taken but I realized that i still needed to train and get better at what i do. After about 3 months i was healed and ready to try it again and with the determination to make it i pushed my self past the fear and was able to reach the top and with that i found that if i push and train i can do anything
If you could change one day in your life, what would you change and why
I would change a single day in my life, my life has made me who I am and what I do. If I wore to change a day in my life that could in the end change who I am today. So I wouldn't change a day in my life
