The Freshman Fundamental

News from Team 2025

Tardy Reporting

Parents, you may have noticed that teachers are monitoring tardies more closely. It is important for students to be in class on time to get the most out of their school day. Please watch PowerSchool closely to maintain up-to-date attendance/tardy information. If you have a question about a tardy, please discuss it with your student or reach out to the teacher for assistance.

Freshman Year Matters

Researchers at the University of Chicago looked at the predictive value of freshman year of high school related to a number of future outcomes; what they found is that 9th grade matters quite a bit. In fact, students who excel in 9th grade are far more likely to graduate high school, enroll in college, and remain in college beyond their freshman year than are students who struggled through their first year of high school.

Final Exam Information

Please note that BHS students WILL BE taking final exams for Semester 1. It's a great idea for students to begin review material now instead of waiting for the night before the exam.

Remember, final exams are 20% of the student's final Semester 1 grade and based on EVERYTHING learned Semester 1.

Menu News from the Nutrition Services Department

It is our mission to always serve the best quality and nutritious meals to our students. While we intend to continue doing so, it is not without its challenges right now. We are reaching out to make you aware of some menu changes that you will notice in our school due to food product and staff shortages. Menu items that may be temporarily removed from the menu are either currently unavailable from our vendors or determined by being both labor intensive and not the most popular with students. When our food and staffing situation improves, we will add these items back, at once.

Calling out for Appointments

When a student is out for the day please call the team office at 317-852-2258 extension 1601, and Mrs. Patino will mark the student's attendance.

When a student is leaving early for an appointment, please call the team office as early in the day as possible to let us know. We will send a pass to the student's class to release him/her.

The student will sign out in the team office and then be allowed to leave the building. Only a guardian may call to release a student from school, but may have anyone pick him/her up. Parents do not have to come in to sign the student out; the students will sign themselves out.
