Christmas Term - Week 17 Mon 7th December - Fri 11th December

Language Arts and IPC

Whilst most of our week has been spent preparing for our Exit Point/Performance evening, we were diligent in allowing some quality time for our end of unit reflection.

We have emphasised the importance of reflection with the children and they are really beginning to realise that as it is through reflection that real understanding is achieved.

Whilst grades and learning outcomes are highly relevant, we also ask the children to consider the process of learning and the journey they have taken to achieve those grades and outcomes.

It really has been an exciting and learning filled unit that has seen the children expand, deepen and broaden their knowledge, skills and understanding.

In the New Year, we commence our new unit of work entitled 'Being Human'.

Amongst all the excitement of this week, the children have taken time to reflect on our last unit for this calendar year: Angles.

We completed self evaluations and identified areas for development when measuring and drawing angles, as well as telling direction in relation to an 8 point compass.

Our first unit after the break will be on Perpendicular and Parallel Lines. It would be great if each child had access at home to a Geometric set at home for this unit.

G4 Performance and Exit Point

On Tuesday evening, the Grade Four corridor was transformed into an Art gallery and performance space. The children of Grade Four showed true courage, as they performed their poems individually to an enthusiastic and very supportive audience. The whole evening was a feast for the senses, as we were able to see the children’s art work and listen to their very creative poetry. The art work on display showcased the children’s talents in Visual Arts. This unit has opened the children’s eyes up to how we can view the world and present it in so many unique and interesting ways. We congratulate the Grade 4 students on an amazing exit point and performance! Well done!
