Athey Notes
Week 17
Welcome to Week 17
Dear Athey Community,
Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a wonderful and restful break!
We will start this new year by giving thanks to our PTSA and all of their volunteers who put on the amazing Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon just before break. It was wonderful for everyone to come together over delicious food. Thank you so much for your generosity!
This upcoming month is packed with performances, clubs, and most importantly, the end of the grading period. January 27th will mark the end of the second quarter. Now is an excellent time to start having your student check their grades, work on missing assignments, find out about revision dates or take advantage of our Homework Club -Tuesdays and Thursdays after school starting on January 10th.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Joel Sebastian
Athey Creek Middle School Principal

School Closures & Delays
Upon occasion, schools in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District may be closed due to inclement weather or other emergency situations that cannot be foreseen until conditions are known. In these cases, the Superintendent, in coordination with District Operations, First Student Transportation Services and School Principals, monitors the situation and makes the official call to close, delay or cause early release of students. Under these conditions an official announcement is posted on the regional FlashAlert System notifying patrons and area news organizations of the decision. You can also visit your school's website, if a closure or a delay has occurred then there will be an immediate notification on the site. Please use the following link to sign up for alerts.

West Linn-Wilsonville COVID-19 Reminders
WLWV continues to support the health and safety of our students and staff. All students and staff members are expected to monitor for signs and symptoms of illness. As we move through this pandemic, community support has grown and access to COVID-19 tests are more readily available in the community. A school may send a student home with an at-home test in certain situations, but onsite testing is not available.
If you are seeking more regular testing, Oregon Health Authority does support a staff screening program (linked here). Students and staff are required to isolate at home in the event they test positive for COVID-19 or if they are exhibiting 2 or more COVID-19 symptoms. Please use this screening tool to determine whether or not you or your student should come to school.
