Message from the Principal
Mother's Day
This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day in Australia. Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother and mother figures of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. As a Catholic community we particularly remember Mary, the mother of the Church, throughout the month of May.
Please join us for ‘breakfast’ this Friday morning as we celebrate Mother’s Day. Our Mother's Day breakfast commences at 7.45am in the undercover area. We hope you are then able to join us to celebrate and bless our mothers at mass in the Parish Church.
God bless
Therese Bandy
Principal

Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum (KSCPC)
It is a requirement that all students receive a protective behaviours and sexual abuse prevention education which is developed by experts in child abuse prevention, is age and developmental stage appropriate, is culturally appropriate, is integrated into the curriculum of the school and makes relevant subject matter links, includes e-safety education and builds practice self-protective skills and strategies.
The KSCPC teaches children and young people to recognise abuse, tell a trusted adult, understand what is ok and not ok touching and ways of keeping themselves safe.
Themes
The curriculum is based on two main themes which are presented through topics and activities:
- Theme 1: We all have the right to be safe.
- Theme 2: We can help ourselves to be safe by talking to people we trust.
Focus Areas
The two themes are explored through four Focus Areas, which are examined in growing complexity in accordance with the age of the learners.
- The right to be safe.
- Relationships.
- Recognising and reporting abuse.
- Protective strategies.
Bread Tags
This term we will be collecting bread bags and bread tags which in turn will give us the opportunity to get new sporting equipment for the school. This is a great way to do our bit to recycle.
Please place bags in the collection boxes provided near the walkway closest to the library or the patio in the lower primary.
Bread tags can also be given to Mrs Shenton in Kindy Gold or the office.
Many thanks for your support!
Mrs Shenton
Playgroup
ECE Charter
- Families are the first educators of the child and children learn best when schools work in partnership with families.
- Engagement is nurtured through the development of strong, caring relationships with each child.
Today at St Anthony’s Playgroup, we celebrated our beautiful mums. We decorated biscuits, made pasta necklaces, doily flowers and collaged a love heart. We joined in with some songs about our wonderful mums and listened to a story. Mrs King also brought out the bubble machine – this is always very popular. The children enjoyed the magic of bubbles!
Happy Mother’s Day to all our amazing mums and mother figures. We hope you all get spoilt on Sunday!
Come and enjoy the fun at St Anthony's Playgroup at St Anthony's School Wanneroo!
Our aim at St Anthony’s Playgroup is to help parents and children have fun together in a space where they can relax, form connections and let their child build their curiosity. By participating in new experiences, children will develop social skills and foster an enjoyment of learning more about their world.
St Anthony’s Playgroup is provided at no cost to families and by St Anthony’s School Wanneroo to give back to our local community. Children are welcome to bring a healthy snack to eat at the end of the session.

Year 5 News
The Year 5 classes have had a positive start to Term 2; some may even say it has been ‘captivating’!
Last Friday we hopped on the bus and travelled all the way to Fremantle Prison. This excursion gave us valuable insights into life in the Swan River Colony and supported all the hard work we have put into learning about the development of the first ‘free’ settlement. We learned so much, including why we finally requested male convicts (turns out the free settlers weren’t too keen to build things or tend to the land). It was so interesting seeing the cat ‘o’ nine tails and Moondyne Joe’s ‘escape-proof’ prison cell. We also got to sit in the part of the yard that they believe he escaped from.
A very big thank you to Mrs Patel and Mrs Walker for joining us on the excursion.
This week we are creating a Mother’s Day gift that truly shows how much our mums are cherished. We are very proud of these gifts as they have combined so many of our skills, poetry, art, technology. We know they will love them as much as we loved making them.
Year 5 have a special focus on reading and comprehension this term. We are loving our Roald Dahl author study and can’t wait to focus on another book. We have set ourselves a challenge to read 20 books within the term, with a big effort on reading a range of genres. We feel this will help to instil a love of reading.
At the end of the term, Friday 16th June the Year 5 classes will be performing at Assembly. We have started practising sections of this performance and will highlight our amazing range of skills. We hope to have a HUGE crowd!
Rehearsals in full swing!
