National Take Your Child To Work Day April 27, 2023
MCPS recognizes the importance in engaging our children in the work that parents do on a daily basis, and encourages staff and their children to participate in Take Your Child to Work Day. This year, the National Take Your Child to Work Day will be observed on Thursday, April 27, 2023. If you plan to take your child to work with you, the parent/guardian must submit an attendance note indicating that the student was absent from school to participate in Take Your Child to Work Day. Once the note is received, the attendance secretary will update the student’s attendance for that day to EXC (excused). Your child's teacher may also bring their child/children to work that day.
Art Contest
The Montgomery County Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program has launched our annual Pedestrian Safety Art Contest for all elementary school (private & public) students in Montgomery County. This contest was birthed through The Vision Zero Youth Ambassador Program where two MCPS high school students (Carissa & Cityana) desired to educate school aged children about pedestrian safety. The simple purpose of the contest is to have students use their creativity to educate themselves and others about the importance of walking safely. Not only is it important for students to go to school, but they MUST get there safely.
There is NO entry fee for any student that participates in the contest. Winning artwork from the contest will not only be displayed on the SRTS website, social media and they will be awarded the prizes below:

Head Lice
There has been a recent increase in the number of head lice cases at TPES. Should your child contract lice he, she or they must be treated and nit free before returning to school. Please let us know so that we can keep track of the number of cases and notify parents as the need arises.
