Principal's Message
Happy Friday Bobcat Families,
It was a busy and productive week back for our Bobcats! They came back pumped, ready to learn and grow!
Our 2nd - 5th grade students will participate in State Practice Testing next week for ELA and Math to prepare from for standardized testing in the Spring. Please ensure your student in on time, has a good night's rest, and a hearty breakfast so they can do their best work.
Thank you to some of the Dreher High School student athletes who surprised our students as they assisted with morning drop-off on Friday. It was a joy to watch and students loved meeting "the big kids."
Enjoy this wonderful weekend weather and we will see you back in Bobcat Country on Monday!

---------SCHOOL NEWS---------
Congratulations to Our 22-23 Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Dana Copeland, Second Grade Teacher

The A.C. Moore family would like to congratulate Ms. Dana Copeland for being selected to represent our school as the 22-23 Teacher of the Year! Ms. Copeland was selected by her colleagues for not only her commitment to student learning and academic success, but for also being an advocate for students and families in the school community.
Ms. Copeland received her B.S. in Pre-K/Primary Education from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Florida. Ms. Copeland's instructional approach and interactions with students truly embodies her belief that a child does not care how much you know until they know how much you care.
Ms. Copeland will celebrate her 13th year of being an educator in February 2022. She has spent most of her career in Florida, but she has also had the opportunity to teach in Egypt for 4 years. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, painting, and cooking.
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Dana Copeland for be selected as the 22-23
Teacher of the Year!

Our Bobcat family would like to send a special thank you to the Dreher student-athletes (many of them were Bobcats) for visiting and assisting our students with morning routines today! Our students and staff enjoyed their visit! It is our hope that they can will join us again soon!

Overdue Library Books
Dear Parents/Guardians:
There are still quite a few books out from last school year and the 2019-2020 school year. I know these were very exceptional years, but please make every effort to locate and return those books to the library as soon as possible. Thank you for you help in maintaining our library collection of books!

- Students should exit the vehicle from the passenger side, along the sidewalk.
- Students should walk along the sidewalk to the gate at the end of the sidewalk.
- Students should not be allowed to exit the vehicle in between the parked cars.

Attention: YMCA Families
Good Afternoon AC Moore YMCA Families,
I hope this note finds you all well and you’ve had a great week.
I just wanted to pass along a quick note about YMCA pick-up on a weekly basis Tuesdays-Thursdays. When arriving to the school to pick up your child or children from the YMCA program can you all please park on the side of the road instead of the bus loop? There is after school tutoring (CRP) going on during these days and by parking in the bus loops it prohibits the busses from getting in the bus loop.
Thank you so much for your understanding and please let me know if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Matthew Taranto

COVID-19 Mitigation Updates
November 10, 2021
Dear Richland One Colleagues,
During this school year, Richland One has experienced decreasing numbers of COVID-19 quarantines and cases among our students and staff. We attribute this to the wearing of masks and other mitigating strategies that have been in place. I want to thank our students, staff and parents for your efforts.
Throughout the pandemic, Richland One has sought and used information and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) as we navigated the pandemic. That practice continues.
Yesterday, the City of Columbia repealed its mask mandate ordinance. However, our face covering policy (Board Policy ADD) is still in effect. Note that the CDC and DHEC have not changed their recommendations as it relates to schools. Also, there may be an uptick in COVID-19 cases during the holiday season.
Our mitigating strategies have kept more students in school and we want to continue in this direction. We will keep monitoring COVID-19 trends and incidence rates, and we will review our mask wearing requirement for students and staff after the beginning of the new calendar year.
Again, thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,
Craig Witherspoon, Ed.D.
