Technology Training
Movie Creators
Movies capture the attention of many through the use of audio and visual representations. As with other apps, you can use these in a variety of ways such as a teacher tool to guide or provide extra tutorials or better yet, student use these to create a product showcasing their knowledge of the content.
Make technology work for you and use the following apps to allow students to creatively improve their skills. These are not content or grade specific, they work at all levels and any themes.
Technology Applications TEKS Kinder- 2nd
- Creativity and innovation. (1A) Apply prior knowledge to develop new ideas, products, and processes; (1B) Create original products using a variety of resources; and (1D) Create and execute steps to accomplish a task.
- Communication and collaboration. (2C) Format digital information, including font attributes, color, white space, graphics, and animation, for a defined audience and communication medium; (2D) Select, store, and deliver products using a variety of media, formats, devices, and virtual environments.
- Research & Information Literacy. (3A) Use search strategies to access information to guide inquiry; (3B) Use research skills to build a knowledge base regarding a topic, task, or assignment; and (3C) Evaluate the usefulness of acquired digital content.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. (4C) Evaluate products prior to final submission.
- Digital citizenship. (5A) Adhere to acceptable use policies reflecting appropriate behavior in a digital environment; and (5B) Comply with acceptable digital safety rules, fair use guidelines, and copyright laws.
- Technology operations and concepts. (6F) Demonstrate keyboarding techniques for operating the alphabetic, numeric, punctuation, and symbol keys appropriate for Kindergarten-Grade 2 learning.
Technology Application TEKS 3rd-5th
- Creativity and innovation. (1A) Create original products using a variety of resources
- Communication and collaboration. (2A) Draft, edit, and publish products in different media individually and collaboratively; (2B) Use font attributes, color, white space, and graphics to ensure that products are appropriate for multiple communication media, including monitor display, web, and print; and (2F) perform basic software application functions, including opening applications and creating, modifying, printing, and saving files.
- Research and information fluency. (3A) Use various search strategies such as keyword(s); the Boolean identifiers and, or, and not; and other strategies appropriate to specific search engines; and (3B) Collect and organize information from a variety of formats, including text, audio, video, and graphics.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. (4C) Evaluate student-created products through self and peer review for relevance to the assignment or task.
- Digital citizenship. (5A) Adhere to acceptable use policies reflecting positive social behavior in the digital environment; and (5B) Respect the intellectual property of others; and (6D) Protect and honor the individual privacy of oneself and others.
- Technology operations and concepts. (6B) Manipulate files using appropriate naming conventions; file management, including folder structures and tagging; and file conversions.

Remember, these are plenty of apps to try. But, it will be a personal preference as to the one or two you decide to utilize in the class. You should think about the ease of use and the needs of the students in your class. You need not use all, but explore for the best option.
