This Week's Lessons

This week's lesson schedule is linked below.

6th Graders: Will be working on "Olympia" and will continue to work out of their method book

7th Graders: Will be continuing to work out of their method book.

Swing Into Spring Changes

Currently, Swing Into Spring is scheduled for this Friday, March 15. With the recent news that the Sun Prairie Varsity Basketball Team has made it to the first state round, we are anticipating many scheduling conflicts for students at Cardinal Heights and Sun Prairie High School.

We have an emergency department meeting scheduled for 5:30 AM on Monday to discuss the best option for our students and families. All families of jazz students will be notified later in the day on Monday.

We understand that this may result in a less than ideal situation for some families and are working hard to come up with a solution that works for everyone. Thank you in advance for your patience!

Pie Auction at Swing Into Spring

We will be holding a pie auction to benefit SPHS Jazz I's trip to New York City at Swing Into Spring this year. If you would be willing to donate a homemade pie to a great cause, please email Deb Lohr.

If you would prefer not to bake, you can still help out by bidding on some delicious pies. The spread is always an impressive one!

6th Grade Honor Band Coming Soon!

This spring, we will be trying a new type of optional, after school ensemble: the 6th Grade Honors Band. This ensemble is open to 6th grade band members who are interested in an opportunity to enrich their band experience with other highly motivated students. Interested 7th graders may also attend but should talk to Mr. Quaglieri first.

Honors Band will meet after school on Thursdays until 4:00 PM and will begin on Thursday, March 14.

Wind Symphony Auditions

8th Grade Wind Symphony auditions will take place on Tuesday, March 12 (Woodwinds & Percussion) and Thursday, March 14 (Brass). Audition information and playing excerpts are available on the left side of the Cardinal Heights Webpage. To sign up for a time, go to the sign up sheet on the band room door.

Band O'Rama: Monday April 8

Band O'Rama will take place on Monday, April 8 at 7:00 PM at the High School. Here are some notes:

  • Our warm-up room will be the choir room (6th Grade)/the hallway outside the auditorium (7th Grade) and students should arrive no later than 6:30 PM dressed in their concert uniform.
  • Please park in the student lot closest to Highway N and enter through the side doors by the stoplight.
  • We will store cases in the hallway and the women's dressing room to avoid too much clutter in the warm-up room.
  • After the conclusion of the concert, please plan on meeting your student in the commons to avoid congestion in the back hallways.
