Welcome Message
Montessori Academy at Onesimo Hernandez
Principal's Corner
Dear Montessori Academy at Onesimo Hernandez Parents,
I would like to welcome our new families to our school and say greetings again to our returning families! My name is Lisa Vega and I am your proud-dedicated principal for the 2020-2021 school year at the Montessori Academy at Onesimo Hernandez (MAOH). I have been an educator in Dallas ISD for the past 22 years and I will start my 10th year as a principal. I began my career as a bilingual Kindergarten teacher and extended my passion for learning in the Montessori model of education. I hold an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma with a certification in Primary (3-6-year olds). I hold this close to my heart as I believe that it is my servant duty to provide ALL children a love of learning the Montessori way in the public sector.
We will begin Year 3 as a Transformation School under Dallas ISD Public School Choice enrolling PreK 3 through 4th grade. Each year we will grow and add a grade level to become a PreK 3 through 8th grade campus. The MAOH staff is not only ready to inspire and ignite your child’s innermost core but committed to providing an environment that will cultivate your child’s potentialities. Our teachers and staff are Montessorians with specialized training in AMI or American Montessori Society (AMS). We honor the Montessori curriculum with to fidelity and dedicate our leadership to develop our children to become what we value most…P.R.I.D.E.
· Peace- We value behaviors free of conflict, learn how to balance emotions modeled through grace and courtesy lessons.
· Respect-We value showing respect for oneself, others and environment.
· Independence-We value helping the child to help himself and build confidence.
· Diversity-We value connecting to the world with an understanding of each other’s cultural traditions and values.
· Effort-We value the intrinsic desire or inspiration to complete purposeful work that fosters perseverance.
We welcome our school and community to celebrate these values by wearing our P.R.I.D.E shirts on Mondays. This is our stellar way to begin the instructional week with our children. We end the week by celebrating college and careers by wearing college shirts.
The first day of school is Monday, August 17, 2020 and I invite parents and community to help us kick off the school year with enthusiasm, inspiration and a sense of security! As of now, we have not received a confirmation on what school will look like for us. Either way, we will be ready to open school virtually, at our campus or a combination of both. Safety and security for all will remain our highest priority and we will adhere to our district procedures and protocols per COVID-19. As we continue to adapt to our time and place, we will stay connected with each other maintaining strong communication through multiple touch points throughout the year.
Thank you for choosing us, believing in us and most importantly, giving us the opportunity to make a difference with your most precious gift- your child!
Your Proud-Dedicated Principal,
Lisa Ann Vega
