Dear Sandymount Families ~

Sandymount Elementary would like to recognize military service this Veterans Day. We will display a “Wall of Honor” to recognize and celebrate the brave men and women who have served or are on active duty. If you have a family member who you would like us to pay tribute to, please complete the attached form or submit a brief summary including the information on the form. We also ask that you share a picture, copy or duplicate, by pasting the photo on the space provided on the form. HELP WANTED - Employment Opportunities

Did you know that our school has employment opportunities currently available? Please consider contacting Stacy Kowaleviocz at slkowal@carrollk12.org for more details on available position(s). Interested applicants are asked to also visit the Employment Opportunities section of the CCPS website, as they must complete a CCPS employment application to be fully considered for positions. The CCPS Department of Human Resources manages this process and is the only office authorized to make official employment offers once the school completes interviews and all required documentation is finalized. Please share this information with family and friends who may be interested in employment. Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

Masked Chipmunks

Media Messages from Ms. Boggs

Destiny Home Access

Students may use Sandymount’s library catalog, Destiny, at home to locate media materials and access eBooks and databases.

Destiny OPAC Home Access https://ccpsdestiny.follettdestiny.com

You can access the catalog from our “Welcome to Sandymount” page. There are also links to our databases and other helpful websites. Students can place their own holds and view their own checkouts if they log on using their own, school based, username and password.

Databases

When it comes to searching online for information, it is sometimes hard to know where to begin. The following are some fee-based databases that students have access to from both school and home. These databases are great places to begin research because the reading level is more appropriate for elementary age students and the information included is reliable. These databases also have a Read to Me feature.

Our databases include Biography for Beginners, BrainPop, BrainPop Jr., BrainPop Español, Britannica School, CultureGrams, Gale In Context Elementary, Pebble Go, Pebble Go Next, Power Knowledge, SIRS Discoverer, and Tumble Books. To use these sites, you need to enter the Sandymount usernames and passwords. The usernames and passwords are available in your child’s media google classroom. I have print copies available in the media center. I can also email you a copy. Please send emails to kaboggs@carrollk12.org

Special thanks to our wonderful PTA for funding the BrainPop databases, Pebble Go, and Pebble Go Next.

Virtual Checkout

Students may use our virtual checkout options anytime to view books online. These To see these options, click here:
