Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate
The Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate is a series of programming offered by the UGA Career Center to provide all UGA students with career development and job search training.
This program is not for academic credit - it is intended to enhance your degree from Grady College through professional development.
Completing the Arch Ready program is a great way for Grady students to build on their career preparation, and it will set you apart from your peers. When an employer sees on your resume that you have completed the certificate, they will see you are serious about your future career!
The program would be particularly beneficial for graduating students who will be on the job market within the next year. I would encourage you to consider attending at least a few programs this semester. More information on the program can be found here.
Drop-Ins Schedule
One Month Away: 2018 Journalism and Mass Communication Career Day
Thursday, Feb. 8
Events from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mark your calendar for the 2018 Journalism and Mass Communication Career Day! This day-long event connects companies and organizations with students seeking careers in digital, print and broadcast journalism, creative mass media, media sales, advertising and public relations. Internships and full-time positions will be available. The day will include two career panel events, a networking luncheon and a career fair. Be on the lookout for preparation events leading up to the event at the start of spring semester.
More details will be provided as the event draws closer. For a full schedule of events, check here.
It's important that you go into this event feeling prepared and ready to talk with employers. To start preparing for Career Day, check out some tips here.
Career Caravan Trip to Atlanta
The UGA Career Center will be coordinating a day-long corporate bus trip from Athens to Atlanta for students to learn more about company culture and career paths. The trip will include stops to two companies, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and The Home Depot. Transportation will be provided. Previous participants have said that trips like this were the most beneficial experience related to their career development.
This event would be a great hands-on opportunity for any student interested in or considering a corporate communications career path in the future. Even if you are not interested in employment at one of these specific companies, this Career Caravan will provide participants with great insight into the mind of a recruiter, what corporate office spaces might look like, and how to set yourself up for success in the job or internship search.
The application will ‘go live’ on Handshake on January 10th at 8:00 a.m. and close on January 31st at 11:55 p.m. To apply, search “UGA Career Caravan” or posting #1219911 on Handshake, or follow this link. Questions about the event can be directed to Whitney Prescott at wnpress@uga.edu.
