Hawthorne Highlights
Leprechauns Loose at Hawthorne
Quite a few classes found that leprechauns caused mischief at Hawthorne this week. Students were busy designing leprechaun traps and following leprechaun tracks.
Stepping Stones
On Wednesday, second grade students visited the Stepping Stones Museum. Students visited three exhibits: Big Adventures--Dinosaurs, Lights On! and Energy Lab. In Big Adventures: Dinosaurs, students explored a time machine and met the dinosaur, Dolly Dilophosaurus. Students interacted with a showcase of various bright lights in Lights On! In the Energy Lab exhibit, students explored water as it relates to the Earth's layers. Students also enjoyed a hands-on workshop, where they learned about aerodynamics and got to experiment with a wind tunnel to see which materials would be best to create their own flying machines.
Calling All Dog Lovers
Kindergarten students in Ms. Carrea & Ms. Gold's class have been practicing their letter writing skills and community service through their outreach to the Armonk Animal Shelter. They collected food and toys for the pets who live there. The shelter sent them a picture of Dolly one of their favorite pups. If you are interested in adopting Dolly or any of the other pets at the Armonk shelter, please reach out to them at https://adopt-a-dog.org/
