Hoot Hoot Herald
October 30 - November 3
Mindset change is not about picking up a few pointers here and there. It's about seeing things in a new way. When people change to a growth mindset, they change from a judge-and-be-judged framework to a learn-and-help-learn framework. Their commitment is to growth, and growth takes plenty of time, effort, and mutual support. - Carol S. Dweck
HOOT NEWS
THANKS for a great Professional Development Day! I was WOWed by all of the staff that stepped up to teach and share in our PD. Your growth mindset and open attitude made this fun, informative, and energetic!
CST TRAINING:
The CST Training is scheduled for Monday, Oct 30th in the computer lab from 12:30-2:30.
This training is for 2nd and 4th grades but anyone else is welcome!
DOSS COMMITTEE MEETINGS:
I am cancelling the faculty meeting on Monday November 6th so that you can have time to meet with your committees. Committee leads, please reach out to your committee to confirm your location.
CELEBRATE:
Don't forget to RSVP to Jenny Carroll for the Baby Q celebration!
BENEFITS:
Make sure that you have verified your benefits online by Tuesday, October 31st.
GT DOCUMENTATION:
Teachers, you will be receiving a skill box with folders for each of your GT students. You can use these as needed. Some teachers like to gather work samples and keep them in these folders (not required but helpful in talking to parents). Others use the box and folders to keep the documentation form. These are to help you and support you with the documentation process. Documentation forms will be coming via email from Vickie. Just a reminder, GT documentation forms need to go in the report card at semester and at the end of the year.
COSTCO AT DOSS:
Costco will be in the teacher's lounge on Thursday Nov. 16th, from 10:30 to 1:30 to promote memberships. Stop by and say hello!
TEACHER-LED PD - JANUARY 3:
On January 3rd, we will have our vertical team professional development day.
We are looking for teachers to present. This is an opportunity for you to gain PPfT points by leading professional development. The "table sessions" are 25 minute conversations about a specific strategy or lesson that you have taught. Think facilitator as opposed to presenter!
Teachers, please consider signing up for to teach a table session on our teacher-led PD on January 3rd at Anderson HS. As a staff, I feel we have many great things to share! Each Elementary is asked to have 10 table presenters.
Topics include : Whole Child, Innovative Technology, etc. This is a great opportunity to show professional leadership! Leading professional development shows us that you are willing to go above and beyond, and we take this into consideration as we evaluate PPfT Professional Growth and Responsibilities. You are awesome, and we love to see you shine! Please click on the link below for more info and to sign up. Submission date is 11/1:
