Staff Update- September 1st, 2015

SCI Faculty and Staff,

Thank you for your hard work these first two weeks! We love that everyone has hit the ground running with instruction! It has been great to be in your classrooms these past two weeks seeing great quality instruction. Thank you also for your flexibility as we have sorted out all the details of scheduling. This is a great place to work thanks to all of you!

Below you will find some important information and upcoming events. Please make sure you read all of this information. We are going to try to cover all business items in this newsletter so we can use our faculty meeting for instruction and professional development and get everyone home on those Thursdays at a reasonable time. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Please make sure that your students have their AVID binders organized and put together for use by the end of homeroom this Friday- September 4th. Please make sure you assist your homeroom classes with the organization of the binder and the planner sheet. Next week we will start offering rewards for the first homeroom classes that have their binder and planner sheets all together and organized. Remember- one of our goals is to close achievement gaps and teach our students skills that will help them be successful. This is a research proven way to make progress in those areas. Help us with 100% participation in this endeavor. As always- if you need assistance with this please contact any member of our AWESOME AVID site team. If you have students that need a binder, dividers, or a pencil bag- please see Mrs. Taylor. We have just replenished our stash!


Friday will be our first PLC time on campus. This Friday will be for 5th grade teachers and next Friday will be for 6th. Please check the PLC schedule that was given out at the beginning of the year to ensure you know what time your PLC is scheduled and where your students are to report. Art will be held in room 132 with Ms. Huston. PLCs will be held in room 141. Please bring your binder that we used for PLC's last year with IFDs and Data as well as your laptop computer. We are looking forward to great PLC time!

Daily Class Counts

Thursday will be the last day you will need to do your class count sheets and your attendance in skyward during attendance period. Starting Friday- you will only need to do your attendance in skyward.


Thursday September 3rd- Faculty Meeting @ 3:40 in the library

Friday September 4th- Donuts with Dad- beginning at 7:30 in the cafeteria (Dads will be able to walk their student to class that morning

Monday September 7th- Staff and Student holiday!

Friday September 11th- End of 3 week grading period

Monday September 14th- 3 week grades due at 8:00AM

Tuesday September 15th- progress reports go home

Tuesday September 22nd- Curriculum Night 6:00-8:00
