The Willard Intermediate PTA is hosting a Winter Bazaar (Holiday Craft Fair) this Saturday, December 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Willard! Please come visit our more than 30 vendors, who will have fabulous and unique holiday gifts. Picture it--books, skin care products, manicure sets, greeting cards, jewelry, clothing, stocking stuffers, home decor, ornaments, wreaths, baked goods, and more! Also, try your luck in our 50/50 raffle and enjoy live music performed by our students!
The Lion King Jr. Auditions Begin
Imagine being able to tell the story of Simba as a cast member in Willard's production of The Lion King Jr. Perhaps you would like to play the wise Rafiki or the cunning antagonist Scar? Maybe the strong and honorable Mufasa is more your speed? Or Nala? Or even Simba himself?
We would love for you to showcase your acting prowess by auditioning for our spring production of The Lion King Jr. Our auditions will be held on Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17 from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. If you are interested in signing up, please visit: http://bit.ly/WillardLionKing or click on the QR Code below.
Also, please note that call backs will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Contact Ms. Gworek (amanda.gworek@lcps.org) or Ms. Sears (annalise.sears@lcps.org) for more information or with any questions!
VJCL Convention Greatness
Willard recently sent a delegation of five students to the Virginia Junior Classical League (VJCL) State Convention in Richmond, Virginia. Our four ninth and one eighth grade students brought home six first places awards in the graphic arts areana! In addition, they won second and third place prizes in a variety of additional areas such as geography. Ninth grader Monet Shum received the sixth place overall ranking out of all ninth graders in the state of Virginia--amazing! Congratulations to the following scholars: Olivia Hess, Nolan Jansorn, Jonah Lombardo, Chloe Schoenly, and Monet Shum. Thank you Mr. Boscovitch for supporting our Wildcats in this effort!

Don't Forget: Last Week Recap
BLAST Program Accepting Applications
The BLAST program is a partnership between Virginia Space Grant Consortium, Old Dominion University, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Students will have an opportunity to apply to one of three sessions. Please visit the website in order to gain more information and to complete the application due on Monday, February 10, 2020.
Winter Clothing Drive Partnership with Riverside
Recently, Sources of Strength has partnered with Riverside High School to help gather *new* fuzzy socks for the local Barnett-Searing National Cancer Foundation. These socks will be part of "smile kits" given to those in need. For every three items donated, students will receive one hour of community service, which could be used on future leadership applications. Please drop off your amazing items in the house offices. This effort will run until Friday, December 13.
Reminder: Bus Dismissal Procedures
In order to better facilitate a smoother end of the day, ensure that students are riding the correct buses home, and to maintain a safe and orderly environment, at both Willard and Champe, we have implemented a revised dismissal process.
- Students who regularly travel to Champe for athletic practices, play rehearsal, or other regularly scheduled school activities have been issued a permanent pass.
- Parents should give students permission to occasionally ride the shuttle bus or leave for pick up on the first bell by filling out this form.
