Fulton Focus
For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District
January 6, 2017
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons,
Thank you for your support with our weather challenges the past two weeks. Fortunately, students could stay in school this week and finish the Fall Semester. Forecasters at KRCG have been very helpful when I asked for a real time update; yet, watching the weather and making safety determinations is extremely difficult. Again, your patience and support is very much appreciated.
Recently, I suspect you have noted several news releases indicating increased graduation rates statewide. As has been reviewed with the Board of Education, the graduation rates have increased in the Fulton School District. The chart below provides comparative information for both four year and five year rates.
The graduation rates indicate the percent of students that graduate with their cohort or age group. Hence, the four year rate is the rate most consider graduation on time or within the four High School Years. The five year rate assumes that the High School program is extended an additional year. Although not evident in Fulton, districts also have six and seven year rates as students legally may attend a public school until age 21.
Obviously, we are pleased with the graduation rate increase. Our goal remains at 100% rate preferably in four years, but we want Fulton students to graduate irrespective of the time it takes.
Additional detail and information is located on the FPS website under 2016 Annual Performance Report and on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education website.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with your student(s). Thank you for sending great kids.
Sincerely,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Peachjar Launch
ELECTRONIC FLYER DELIVERY STARTS January 10, 2017
The Fulton Public School District is getting ready to launch a new electronic flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.” To view school-approved eflyers, simply click the Peachjar button on our school’s website homepage.
This “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.
No action is required on your part. You will receive a welcome email from our service provider (Peachjar) that includes a username and password. This is provided to give you the opportunity to manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You do not need to login to receive or view school eflyers.
When you receive your first eflyer, be sure to click “always display images.”
This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events.
