App of the Week
VocabularySpellingCity is a fun way to learn spelling and sight words by playing engaging games using word lists. The most popular activities are Spelling TestMe and HangMouse. Students can log onto their teacher's site to practice the words on their individualized spelling Words Their Way concepts, as well as, First Grade Sight Words.
Pops for Pals
TTT will be selling Blow Pops with valentine cards in the foyer after
school from 2:45-3:00 on Monday-Thursday this week. They are 3 pops for $1.00. Save a trip to the store and buy your valentines at school!
Valentine’s Day Parties
Please join us on Friday, February 12th for our class Valentine’s Day party. Remember no younger siblings at the party, please! The party will start at 12:45 and end promptly at 1:45. We hope to see you there!
Calling All Chaperones

Admission is $5 and will be purchased it at the museum the day of the field trip. Due to limited bus space all chaperones will need to meet us at the museum. Feel free to carpool to save on parking cost:) We will draw three names to be official chaperones from each class since only 3 chaperones will be allowed into our Simple Machines class. If you plan on attending the field trip, please let me know by Friday, February 12th so that I can arrange small groups. Hope you can join us!

What we are learning this week...
Reading- I can use text structure and text features to locate information.
Writing- I can answer “how” and “why” questions to explain my idea.
Science- I can sort and classify living/non-living things based upon whether or not they have basic needs and produce offspring.
Social Studies- I can describe and explain the importance of beliefs, customs, language and traditions of families and communities.
